So I recently built a fairly powerful PC to use solely for gaming purposes. It’s probably the best PC I’ve ever built, both performance wise but also in terms of component compatibility and cooling. Everything I’ve thrown at it so far has run absolutely stellar.
Overwatch however, has been a slightly different story.
I am currently experiencing some pretty hefty frame stuttering from time to time. Especially when I rotate the camera towards a lot of player characters. In terms of raw graphical output I can play the game with all settings on max with constant 175fps (my max refresh rate). I’ve tried experimenting with lowering the frame cap, enabling/disabling various frame sync settings and turning off a couple of graphical settings, but it doesn’t seem like it has much of an affect.
I am feeling a bit lost here as I’ve been away from PC gaming for a couple of years. Most of these settings I’m not overly familiar with, and I know there’s also lots of tinkering you can do in the software outside of the game. It’s honestly quite overwhelming.
Any advice here is welcome. I know frame stuttering is one of the most common issues with PC gaming, but in competitive games like this it’s especially hard to overlook as it impacts your gameplay performance.
