Failed to connect to server

I keep getting this in the last few days (last 3-4 days, I believe) - screenshot: prnt.sc/jjndp0 (I even lost some more SR because of this) - I don’t get it on every match, I got it like 4 times I believe (it started after the servers of Overwatch were down for a couple of hours, I searched about that to be sure it’s not only me). It fails to connect, I retry to enter the match and then I can’t and I see this message that I’m suspended for 30 minutes (I’m starting to become worried about any higher penalties than this) and then I can play only arcade in this time, sadly. I didn’t have any issue like this in the last 2 years since I have the game (and nothing changed on my connection or location or something like that).

I add here that I don’t have any internet connection issues on my PC (the PC is an i7 4790k, GTX 1080, 24 GB Ram), I’m using a wired connection. Sometimes I can’t even enter in the game (this started the same, only a few days ago, no problem before), it gives me an error and then I need to click retry until it works.

Later: This is so sad prnt.sc/jjrzdi . This happened after 2 games that worked today. Do something Overwatch team, why are you ignoring this?!?!

If you’re experiencing problems with your connection please work through all the steps in the Overwatch - Latency Problems article on the support site.

If none of the steps help then reply here and make sure to include any error message you receive. You should also include a traceroute and pathping taken at the time of the issue.

I didn’t have any problems in the last two days, but today I got it again like before, “Failed to connect to server” and suspended for 30 minutes (-50 SR :frowning:), like this: https:// prnt.sc/jjndp0

I repeat, the problem started a few days ago when Overwatch servers were down (confirmed by looking online on some sites where a lot of people said that they have problems) for a couple of hours. I have a similar issue. Whenever I try to start my game it just disconnects my whole internet…

At least a bit more information would be nice instead of pretending that the problem is our internet (when all my other games like League of Legends, Fortnite and Quake just work fine).

We are not aware of any issues on the Overwatch servers at the moment. Keep in mind that, due to the way internet connections work, sometimes an issue can only affect specific programs or services. You can read more about it here.

That’s why it’s important to follow some troubleshooting first, so we can discard the most common causes, and then provide the data Tiogaradh asked for. Everything seems to be fine in those diagnostics. Did you run them right after a disconnection? Keep in mind that if you run them when you’re not having any issue, they won’t show any problems.

Maybe a better option for you would be a WinMTR. You can leave it running while you play (it’s better if you restart it every 10 minutes or so), so if you get disconnected at any point it will register what’s going on with the connection in that very moment.
