Hi,

This is my first post because I don’t usually blame something about the game appart of myself.

But on this I had to gut it out as I think it’s pretty dumb and unfair at some point.

A bit of context: on this account I’m lowish Plat in classic comp and don’t play much comp so I don’t rank up, I did a smurf who got placed 3k with 5w/5l so I guess I can say I’m like high plat / low diamond level.
I also like playing FFA.

Here is the problem: Yesterday evening I did my FFA comp placements, I won some, lost some, usual stuff. I got placed (~2970 SR) and got matched with players with 2900-3500 range SR, usual stuff.

Then one game a dude playing Genji crushed everybody getting 20 kills in like 3 minutes (the second had less than 10 points), then I saw he was a Top 500 player with 4400 SR in classic comp, realizing that actually lots of ~3k SR in FFA were more than 3500 SR in classic comp (like 3-4 out of 8)

I mean, this is dumb right? It’s logical to me that a Top 500 player (even a master) will play better than me and will have more chance to win but what I think is dumb is how a Top 500 player can actually be ranked 3k in this mode whereas he’s just a killing machine wining (I guess) all his games easily
Also having almost half of players being way better that the other half is pretty unfair as they will mostly end the game being in the top 4 and let others with “normal” SR loose points.

Maybe it’s just because I rushed the comp mode day 1 so every good player (I mean master+) played at this time, but I found it unfair enough to share it.

I hope it’ll be better in the next days anyway.

Well the SR for normal comp and Deathmatch comp are both seperate so they won’t really be taken in to account. Also a player’s skill can vary greatly depending on how well they perform in a team and also if they play solo, so I would think that the Genji you met was either a good player or everyone else just wasn’t up to par.

I feel it’s risky to play Genji in deathmatch as he has many counters these days, and no self healing. But they are good at getting those sneaky kills if played well.

im at 3800sr in normal comp but got placed at 2600, then lost 1 game and lost 40 sr after that i won one and gained 0 so i went through the typical procedure of smashing my keyboard and mouse into the table and gave up on the game mode
