We’ve all been there, doing well pushing cart consistently or up 1-0. Then you get a leaver and you lose the game by default. It is infuriating and I’ve just lost 27 SR to a leaver while still trying my hardest the whole game and it ended up being close.
How would I fix it?
If after 1 minute passes and the leaver does not rejoin, then instantly fill that spot with a queued person from the back of the queue. If your team wins, everyone gains SR as normal +10%. If your team loses, then your team loses normal SR except the joiner who loses nothing.
Few things to cover;
Why the back of the queue? Well it means someone doesn’t sit in the queue for 10+ minutes to get put into an ending game that may be completely unwinnable by that point and have to re-queue for the full duration.
Why the SR+10% for winning? To compensate for the lost player for 1 minute. 10% will be an average of 2SR, it’s not going to ruin the game but at least gives incentive to keep trying as 5 as some people do give up as soon as there is a leaver.
Why does the joiner not lose SR, but gain SR? Like I said it may not be possible for them to turn the game into a win but it still gives them an incentive to try and win to try and avoid a “well I’ve got nothing to lose” mentality and not trying.
The leaver gets the standard 50 SR loss, the overall SR in the game remains the same.
The only downside I can see is that it may make a certain type of player ask someone to leave so they can get another team mate instead and create some toxicity. Hopefully the 1 minute without a teammate would be a deterrent to this.
