there are plenty of adults like myself who game
there are plenty of them who play overwatch.
And it’s not very good to be forced to play with little kids.
By little kids i mean like under 14’s and there’s PLENTY of them.
There’s even plenty under 12’s.
Yeah i sound like a grumpy old moaning git but here’s the thing, when an adult come son to game they do so to relax, have a laugh and not have their fun cramped by having to alter their normal way of doing things because a genuinely small child is in the game , usually with open mics talking utter nonsense and ruining the game for everyone really.
Blizzard are into all those political correctness BS so why not give the kids a space to be with other kids and not annoy the grown ups and give the adults the choice of including playing with little kiddies or to chose to play with other adults.
A lot of adults will thank you for it and parents will too
This game is a family friendly enviorment for all users, no matter the age.
If you want to be grouped with someone around your age i highly recommend grouping up via other services or by using the in-game LFG feature.
LFG feature doesn’t have a filter by age setting…
so this suggestion is null and void
Name the group “18+ only” or “30+ only” or whatever. Done.
There are quite a few OW 18+ communities, take a look at the LFG forums here or on Reddit or whatever, and join them.
Playing in a community is much more fun anyway. Joining one literally saved me from uninstalling. It’s a much better experience.
and how do you enforce it?
Your issue here is their mics right?
Well you enforce by listening to their voices.
i know some 17 year olds who sound like 30 year olds, and some 45 year olds who sound like 14 year olds…
next suggestion?
Verification through discord servers or anything else which you can use ID’s.
What would you suggest? Filter by age? Haha, can by bypassed.
Plus we don’t want systems that affect queue times as of this moment.
for a video game?.. are you serious? lol how much spare time do you have?..
no duh… thats my point…
dont want to use LFG feature then, or 6 stacking…
I mean if you are so picky about what age you get queue’d up with i’d guess those would have alot of spare time, no?
OP’s problem here is that they get annoyed by these children, which practically can be solved with the click of a button.
They want to play with more of their age group, so sure they should have enough time if they wish to play with more friends around their age.
Well that’s fair, though it would be hard to create a system that cannot be bypassed. Imo somewhat impossible since you cannot directly enforce this.
And why is that then?
facedesk… its called playing devils advocate… i personally don’t care…
indeed
because both LFG and 6 stacking increases the overall queue times for people using it
This is actually already a thing, a lot of OW servers even already have it, especially the ones for specific nations.
its a game thats easily accessible, end of. filtering by age would require people filling in details so the game can record their age. also, im seventeen but I basically only play with people who are older than me because I find it more fun. if there’s a kid in chat, mute them. but you cant whine about kids playing the game, look at the age on the box, if this was some 18+ hyper graphical team based game, (bearing in mind these are only suggestions and not the law) hen I could understand why your concerned. but its a 12 rated game, you cant expect them to cater towards every little problem with a new patch.
I completely get what you’re saying. I was just in a match where a kid was saying the word moist over and over again followed with screeching. We all muted him then he went to chat and typed moist after every kill. Like do it up kid, we were all annoying sh*ts at one point
I think servers that have age verification would be good actually.
For those of us that care enough we can have it so we only enter those ones.
Wouldn’t be hard to do. Games already have servers for people that cheat to only be allowed to be in games with other cheaters.
I saw a reply calling it family friendly. And yes the game is, HOWEVER the communication is not. Is it my job to tell a kid to stfu. No and it’s not my place to either. But there should be a “kiddie pool”
Im 24 and has no real problem with it. Can understand why someone would have it. I just dont see how they would do that since many kids would just pretend to be older.
Also, you have to ability to mute people, leave voice, hide chat and if it is really bad, report them.
Don’t segregate the game just because you are having a grump. I am in my 30s, if I play solo queue I don’t join voice and I turn text chat off. I just have music on in the background and chill out.
Anyone can be a right pain on voice. There was a person once (clearly older than 15) who started just screaming into the mic loud enough to deafen someone and started making fun of the rest of us asking them to be quieter.
That was definitely an immediate muting.
I understand the want for a “kiddie pool” but it’s not feasible to make one that would be foolproof.
Also, if battlenet doesn’t ask for your age then it’s leagal to advertise games and new battlepasses to everyone.
Instead of making a finicky filtering system so they don’t accidentally advertise things to minors.
Dude, there is no sudden solution to your request. Even if Blizz somehow acknowledge this request and plan on doing what you were asking, it would take time you know.
People are offering you workarounds that you keep refuse and forcing your chance here.
I am not kid first of all, I am a mid-aged person who has been around since first Warcraft game and up until today. Basically we walked alongside each other with Blizz since mid 90’s. I am telling this to avoid of being “just another kid” over a rant.
The issue here is, you can not avoid people by their age. To that, company should classify you by your and should throw you in an age pool. Blizz can do that but it means that my age will be revealed and it will be against my will. I can sue them over and if this ever happen, I would sue them really hard. I don’t want to match up by my age. I want properly matched with people that are close to my skill-set so I can have fun and improve my game.
Try to ignore them. Believe me, I understand you. Sometimes it makes you go mad but filtering by age is not a proper solution to this.
that would make the queue time a lot longer tbh. i do see your point, its not fun to play with kids that do nothing but scream and mess around.
