When I shoot in Genji, quite often, his deflection appears out of nowhere, it was not visible before the shot. I’m a hitscan, right? Why does the ability appear right before my bullet? How should I know that he is deflecting if he is not really deflecting? Is this called “Favour the shooter”? Yes, you can start saying “this is a ping,” but for some reason it does not happen with a tracer, with any shields that also does not happen (for example, Reinhardt) and with other abilities that are subject to priority.
I can place this video (in Russian)

it happens every time when im using mccree, especially with stun.
He can deflect it before the animation even starts, because genji is fair and needs buffs.

This is the result of a high ping and the favor the shooter system. in real time he did use it before you shot but the server has to relay that to you and then stuff like this happens since on his screen he was deflecting making him the shooter.
I have an avg 40 ms during my playtime. And happens almost every time against genjis, and some friends confirmed that happens to them even if i play genji.
So, i don’t know exactly what problem is, but it needs to stop, now.
The reflect animation feedback is a tiny bit late (you had to slow down the video to see it) but surprisingly fast/good considering that most players have at least 20-40ms ping and reflect is quite often used as a reflex.
I think the problem here wasn’t really the speed of reflect-anim feedback but shooting at a genji in a very predictable way. As a beginner mccree my panic flashbangs and shots were almost 100% reflected back to me. Today if I meet a genji head on then chances are high that he dies if he can’t disengage. However a good genji will attack from outside of mccree’s FOV or when mccree is too busy with other things and that initial damage can give genji an advantage.
In other words, we know he is broken and break many rules of te game, but we keep him in nontheless because weebs.
I agree.

I didn’t say that genji is broken. I said that he played in a predictable way and most decent genjis would’ve deflected that shot. He should’ve known that deflecting that shot had a high chance in that situation but still rolled the dice and lost.
If both the widow shot and genji deflect are pressed more or less at the same time then in my opinion it is fair if the deflect works. The fact that its animation appeared a bit later is a minor issue. It’s basically the same as a widow vs widow fight when you both line up a headshot with 100% power and pull the trigger (press LMB) “at the same time”. The only difference is that in that case if you are slower then you simply die and don’t see a deflect animation or something similar to complain about. Depending on how the servers are implemented, if you both press LMB exactly at the same time but you have higher ping, your human input might reach the server later than that of your opponents even if you were a bit faster in real world. If the ping difference isn’t too high then there are some techniques to make it more fair but there are very tight limits without compromising gameplay quality. Also, if you have higher ping, then your machine probably receives the results of server decisions and the human input of other players (like genji reflect anim) with more latency.
The thing you’ve experienced can be improved only with lower ping (better networking technology and/or better broadband package). My ping is usually 20-25ms but I know that some players have a multiple of this. Unfortunately low ping internet connection often comes with pricier high-bandwith internet connection packages while games only need low ping low bandwith. I have a mid-priced package where I use only a fraction of the bandwith that comes with it. Unfortunately most cheaper packages have not only lower bandwith (that isn’t a problem for gaming) but also higher pings.
You’re playing with 80+ ping so of course there is going to be a big delay even for me with a 20-25 ping delay in this game is incredibly apparent.
the trick is to shoot him at the end of his deflection animation because the deflection ends earlier than the animation does. Genji will always win out against hit scan because in the action que it takes priority over favor the shooter, like tracers cds.
same stuff here, you should predict genji deflects, because this animations are late.
which sounds absolutely fair and legit. And in blizzard’s place i would totally not fix this.
Like they are already doing
