Who here likes the new Flashpoint mode? It’s actually terrible in my opinion.
Bring back the original 2cp maps.

I like them. It’s chaotic, it will get better. I think they are balanced and due to multiple approaches they require coordination. I just had them in comp, that’s way too early tho.
Edit: yes, also bring back 2cp (never thought I’d say that)

I quite like the mode in mystery heroes. It’s chaos already so it kinda fits together.
In normal play though. No thanks.
the maps would be nice for ffa but damned these flashpoints are annoying. As support getting killed is just annoying because if they got a sombra or a tracer then you likely wont make it back to the point again for a long time. Atleast thats the case when im mercy

It is everything but balanced. The current state of Overwatch’s gameplay balance raises concerns regarding hero selection in various modes. In flashpoint yes. But its not because of the mobility, widow can move around decently with her grappling hook. Flashpoint just isnt designed well for sniper heroes. There are not many good places to be for snipers. Theres walls blocking sight everywhere.
And in push there are plenty of anas and widowmakers from my experience
You don’t balance maps around the whole Hero variety. There will always be maps (or points on maps) more suitable for sniper or brawl comps (eg junkertown vs ilios), but the map design looks balanced. Obviously a brawl heavy map isn’t optimal for sniping heroes, but even on those, there are points that offer nice sniping angles and a lot of escape potential for heroes like widow. Yes, they are brawly and favored for high mobility heroes, but you are free to play one of those.
Eh concidering what a sniper is supposed to do, not a single map is good for snipers in this game. The distance is not big enough to call it sniping.
Distance is always in relation and in overwatch there are characters considered being snipers even tho it’s not only defined by range. Widow range nerf actually sucks but keeping in overwatch, there are definitely maps that give snipers an advantage. Junkertown, CR (or was it queen street? I always mess up those two…), Havanna, Rialto on first and third, etc. basically any high ground long range open map/point.
Queen street is the push map.
I’d say even eichenvalde is a pretty good sniper map, not to mention some ilios maps and 2 of the 3 nepal maps.
Shambali is also pretty darn nice with long sightlines.
Colosseo push map is also a pretty okay sniper map along with gibraltar with how open they are.
It’s pretty hard to think of any maps that have no sniper positions at all. Maybe nepal village is not ideal and oasis maps. Ecopoint maps are also a bit more difficult for snipers as well as dorado.

Exactly, and I am sure we will find some nice sniper spots on flashpoints too. Think about it, defenders are stuck on a basically 360 open point. Hook around in circles around the point and snipe in while your team engages in close combat. I haven’t tried it myself tho. Defense could be harder. The maps are new and we will learn to play them. Brawl is just the obvious way.
Most of flashpoint defence takes place outside of points as the points themselves are very open.
With how little people ping their killers all you need to do is find a nice quiet spot and snipe whoever walks onto the point.
Alternatively find a good spot between the point and enemy spawn and just keep staggering them.
In very casual matches it sometimes happens that no one’s on the point at all after it’s captured, as everyone just scatters into the map and spawncamps the enemy.
It’s not so much that I don’t like flashpoint as a mode, it’s just that almost all these new maps bore me. Whenever I’m playing one of these new maps in OW2, I just think to myself I wish I was playing Hanamura, Lunar colony, Kingsrow, or one of the other classic maps instead.

Lack of innovation. They have 2cp maps to return instead surely - proven concepts, fantastic maps.
I still prefer payload and hybrid maps. In my opinion flashpoint is better than push but still not great, I wasn’t a fan of 2cp either especially not Paris so I was glad when it was removed from competitive at least in OW1 but I’d rather have 2cp than push and flashpoint.
When comparing push and flashpoint with each other, i’d rather play push. At least you don’t end up playing one map for half an hour. At worst you might end up with 5 points worth of overtime in flashpoint, making it feel like the worst mayhem game you’ve ever played.
At least push maps are straight forward and the game actually ends at some point.
yeah "snipers"might do alot of damage when hitting headshots but they are not really sniping. You can easily land some “sniping"shots froom the other side of the map with alot of non sniper heroes. Sure its on console so things are a bit different due to controls but i “snipe”” widowmakers pretty often with reinhards range attack or with torb.
And the scope for the snipers is pretty terrible as well
flashpoint is boring af. I get that people like chaotic stuff, but this is not it… like people don’t coordinate for the life of em, just run in, feed, get lost on the maps that are stupidly large and the most boring walking simulator in any game, actually I hate everything about this mode. I’d rather only play 2cp than this. No, I’d actually even play Paris instead of flashpoint! whenever I see it come up I want to give it a try but it’s really hard to not get annoyed instantly when you see your team playing ffa and the enemy team is coming in as a scrim team 5 stack… I absolutely detest the mode. It just doesn’t work in OW.
