Hello im a silver player who loves genji hes so fun and I cant get enough one downside is that I just cant play him cant get kills nothing and its very annoying I just want a helping hand in game if anyones ok with helping me and making a friend. my name in game is Callistó and im on anytime after 4pm gmt if you would like to help.
Genji requires both insanely good mechanical skills and situational awareness.
An in-game friend (especially a low-rank one) might not help you much with your genji skills. In my opinion what you need is watching some genji tutorial videos and practising what you learn from them. It’s also important to find a good mouse sensitivity for your genji where you feel comfortable both with navigation (e.g.: quick 180 degree turns) and an OK shuriken aim accuracy.
First learn how to finish quickly with 1 lonely enemy. Some heros are easy to kill while some others are next to impossible. You can immediately use this skill to punish enemies who overextend (quite common in silver).
The next step is being able to decide when to engage and when to disengage when the enemy team is relatively grouped up. From which direction to approach the enemy team and how to do this effectively on different parts of different maps? This is about quickly identifying situations in which you can more safely engage in combat and you also have to have a plan in mind with genji when it comes to disengaging quickly after the kill. This requires good situational awareness (can be learnt from videos and by playing a lot) and a good economy when it comes to using your abilities. E.g.: making sure that you have a dash to quickly disengage/escape from combat.
