This would fulfil the hero fantasy of playing an assassin/flanker character that is high risk, high reward (like Tracer).
Cyber agility
[Quality of life change] Movement speed increased from 7.8 to 8 (vertical).
Genji’s wall climb can feel sluggish at times mainly at higher levels of play, to compensate for this, the movement speed of wall climb will be increased.
Primary and Secondary fire
[BUFF] Projectile speed increased from 60 to 80 meters per second.
[BUFF] Damaged increased from 27 to 30
[NERF] Reload time increased from 1.5 seconds to 1.55 seconds.
Secondary fire
[NERF] Recovery increased from 0.68 to 0.75.
To balance for the damage increase, we are slowing down his rate of fire for his secondary fire and increasing reload to promote more counterplay when the Genji is out of position.
Ammunition size
[NERF] Decreased from 30 to 24
With the decrease in ammo, the Genji player would need to go for quick assassination kills and smartly pick the duels he engages in.
Swift strike
[NERF] Damaged reduced from 50 to 40
The damage on swift strike is easy to land and feels over tuned, especially at lower levels of play, to help reduce frustration, we are decreasing the damage.
This change also counterbalances the increased damage that are applied to his shurikens.
[BUFF] Cooldown decreased from 8 to 7 seconds.
Deflect
[NERF] Duration reduced from 2 seconds to 1.75 seconds.
2 seconds deflect time feels too long and forgiving when fighting against a Genji, while 1.5 was the original value, 1.75 is a happy medium that will make deflect more fair and easier to counterplay.
DRAGONBLADE
[BUFF] Damage increased from 110 to 130.
[NERF] Can no longer be affected by damage boosts.
[NERF] Rate of fire increased from 1 swing per 0.9 seconds to 1.1 seconds.
[NERF] Movement speed reduced from 30% to 25%
[NERF] Ultimate cost increased by 5%
There have been complaints in the community addressing that Genji relies too heavily on the nano boost combo and other ultimate combos for the ultimate to be effective, as ulting as Genji by itself often gets him punished or little value. To overcome this, we are increasing dragonblade’s damage. Additionally, dragonblade will not be able to be amplified by damage boosts such as Ana’s nano boost. We are also reducing the movement speed as less experienced players can have a hard time tracking him down and increasing the cost of dragonblade, as the ultimate is far more lethal compared to its previous version.
