“ggez” at the end of every match is a must, a random friendly statement pre-approved by Blizzard as they wrote them all.
Win AND lose: ggez.
Now if Blizzard feels that this is a toxic thing to do then remove it from the game.
If it’s not toxic then stop reprimanding those who use it.
I’m utterly confused by this statement.
Are you calling this post a troll or that you feel I’m a troll for saying “Well played. I salute you all.” or “Great game, everyone!” regardless of winning or losing?
ggez = good game, easy, like saying enemy was no challenge, belittlling them. It would be equal to laughing at opposing team after game for eveyrone to see. If real life you would get punchedi n the face, in game, you get banned for toxic behaviour. Other players are people too, recpect them.
ez is a pretty unsportsmanly thing to type… especially towards the end of the game…
There is a huge thread on the US forum about t-baging and my opinion is pretty much
T-baging a-ok since that is more tactical mind game during the game to tilt an enemy reducing their combat efficiency…
But after the game if you claim it was ez that is just being toxic because your basically tilting someone ahead of their next game… which does not help you…
Basically Darth Traya would not approve it does not benefit you so don’t do it!
Seriously though, I think it all depends on context. It is really no fun getting roflstomped by an enemy team who is just playing much better than you are - we all have those games every now and then, no matter what rank or how good you are - and then if one of them does the “gg ez” thing, it’s just adding salt to injury for no good reason. No one on the defeated team feels better by it or would be amused.
If someone on the losing team does it, however, it adds a layer of sarcasm which is almost humorous and can even show that he is able to put the loss in perspective.
Although I really dislike toxic people in the game, I myself don’t report for “gg ez”, unless I’m in a real foul mood. But it’s generally just bad manners, depends on the situation and the context. And most of the time when it’s used, it’s not in the nice and funny way.
If you are actually talking about the sentences that replace “gg ez” in-game, they’ve been implemented as a mockery to people using the phrase “gg ez”, not to be used to say something nice. If you want to say something nice, then just say something nice. Don’t use those sentences - most of the time they’re still considered as “gg ez”.
I had a game a couple of days ago, on point b, 20 seconds left and we were losing hard so someone on the enemy team goes ”gg ez”
Somehow we turn it around and win it all. My entire team said gg ez back including me (first time ever saying it) just because the irony of it. The kid who originally said it got so mad and started spewing out all kinds of insults on us…
With this said though i agree with it being unsportsmanlike and immature to use.
(Above scenario is totally immature btw)
that case was absolutely fair…sadly i think you have to have someone on your friends list to message them directly or i think writing that to the ez guy would have been more fair
Certainly that seems to be a common thing that some people view it as a very unpleasant thing to say. I personally like the random things.
And I do occasionally get people getting very angry about it, which is a shame.
Also a pity you cannot just have the positive messages: eg. For glory and honor! Huzzah comrades!
If Blizzard changed it from “ggez” to say “ggty” for example would that then make these exact same phrases more acceptable?
Rather than changing “ggez” into a long winded sentence about sucking your thumb or it’s past your bedtime, what they should do is simply not show the message. Like, the player types “ggez”, hits enter and then nothing appears. That way it would be a waste of time for the player and he/she won’t do it.
What we have now is a system where the “ggez” is changed to some “funny” comment, but everyone knows what the player intended to say, so people still say it.
Saying this comment is an attempt to boost ego, and ego is only boosted if the player feels that his/her opponent knows they’re ridiculing them. Rather than change the actual text, they should just remove the text entirely, thus wasting the players time and giving them no satisfaction.
But if you were getting stomped on in the team that was down a player and it came from the enemy team it may not feel so good.
I disagree with Snow, though I still like the random nature of it. and it is THAT message I like.
What it seems I want is the same random messages attached to a different phrase, like “ggty” so that I can use it without causing those who just want to be offended and butthurt to become pissed off.
But that’s just it, why do you insist that a positive friendly saying at the end of a match is “acting like an 8 yr old”? is that because at 8 you have yet to have the cynicism of the world?
Anyway I do think that it is better to just remove the “gg ez” then insertsome random sentence. Since it is more annoying for unsportsmanlike like players that they can’t get the message across.
