Gold Medals/Stats system FIXED - Watch and Learn Blizzard!

Great arguments.

But I’m afraid it’s all a matter of opinions in the end.

I mean a casual player won’t find the idea of him under performing every match. Seeing these stats might ruins people motivation and experience of the game.

I mean it’s literally an overview telling you suck!
And Blizzard wants to give people the impression they’re doing well in order to keep on playing.
Like Activision does in the call of duty games, giving medals and all that for every kill.

Now personally I think it’s interesting. As long as they avoid bringing KDR in to the match overview. Then people will play for frags not wins.

And no it won’t reduce toxicity, the in-game toxicity can’t be solved.

The main issue is that even with a scoreboard, the people who’d need it the most wouldn’t get it. I’m talking of course about DPS mains who would use a scoreboard to brag about how they got bronze damage, not understanding that it’s not a great feat to have more damage than the supports.
At the same time, neither damage nor elims paints enough of a picture. People can go farm tanks for gold damage without ever getting a kill and people can get a tiny bit of chip damage on everyone for gold elims, neither of that is good. Sure, when you get both gold, it starts to mean something, and while I often get 4 gold as D.Va, it only really measures the worth of DPS players, because only one third of the team focuses on just that one thing, while the other two thirds have a full plattern of stuff to do and be judged on.

The idea is good but Blizzard is slacking A LOT in that department. We need replays and scoreboards and only the first one is going to come in 2019.

Performance based SR already exists so what BTC suggests shouldnt be hard to implement but they are going to back off with the same excuse “It doesnt represent 100% of what is happening ingame”

Yeah, we all know, but having SOME information is ALWAYS way better than having NONE, which is what we have now.

Well, mate, as it is now, you don’t need reasons to blame other players. You just pick someone, and start the “blame game”. The “victim” has no way of proving that they’re doing good, and that something else needs changing. Even if someone wants stats for a “blame game”, there’d be less players who could actually blame someone… so, it would certainly be better that it is now.

But medals are not visible to everybody … Players can just lie about it. I have gold damage, and gold elims(in truth I have neither - not that it’s something to brag about nor is it proof of your good play, but that’s all people got). Only me and the guy who actually has it know that I don;t have medals. But am I lying or the guy with actual medals? Other 4 people have no idea untill the end, and possibly not even after the end … Medal system allows everybody to be toxic, blame others, think they’re doing good, when they’re not, etc.

Yes, but if you have stats, you’d know exactly where the problem is.

There needs to be somekind of indicator what you need to change to win. Data that your Genji is doing 20% less than average in kills/damage, doesn’t mean much for you(unless you plan to write “git gud”), but it can show to Genji what he needs to focus on(but maybe they can’t? maybe they’re outplayed? how can we tell from reading averages?).

Well, they can always just display scoreboards/stats/whatever in competitve mode only …

Oh I fully agree that medal system is absolutely flawed.

It would depend what the stats show, but overall it is better than what we have now. However with having enemy stats reveled could give away more information then it should. It would be much easier to track enemy ults, just an example. Now we need to decide if that’s a good thing or not, because that way you’re robbing players that are good at tracking enemies actions and ult status of excelling at that aspect by providing everyone with that information.

Means to the genji though, also I don’t see why the two would conflict? Why wouldn’t we be able to have both stats? How a player does on average and(or on) the scoreboard.

I’m for it … the more info - the better. But if I’d need to chose …
