I got placed bronze 5 after winning 7 and losing 3… i then played more games to see if the rank system was just hard. After winning another 7 games my rank didnt change. Still bronze 5. Ive seen others having the same problem. I hope this doesnt ruin the mmr of those effected because i for sure dont want to play anymore competitive if i cant even be rewarded for my effort put into this game…

MMR isn’t reset. I don’t know where you come from in OW1, of course, but placements have never been based solely on wins or losses in placement games. Not even in OW2.

averaging 15k dmg per game and i was plat in ow1 just didnt play for a few saison and its not like i didnt play any game like this either so my skill lvl shouldnt have gone this low

and i got placed in bronze 5 for my placement yes but the 7W 1L is the second series
and it place me again in bronze 5
I would have taken bronze 4 without flinching

Last time i had a rank in overwatch i was in the middle of gold. I dont have a problem being placed in bronze because the games are so easy to win anyways, but after all those wins where i litterally carry my team as tank nothing changes. Something seems wrong and i dont feel like playing the game until i can get a legit answer. I also played all the placements with my friend on dmg and he got placed silver 4 and nothing is wrong with his competitive.
I’ve just made a thread about having the exact same issue it just makes you not want to play at all which is so disappointing considering how excited I was for OW2 release

Yeah i was having fun with my long time friend aswell. We played almost 3 years straight when ow1 came out before switching to other games. It was fun hopping back on but after this situation i havent wanted to continue playing

For me it depends on how they deal with the issue, if they just say they’ll look into it and expect us to grind our way out from bronze 5 without knowing before playing through another 7 wins if the issue has been resolved I won’t be impressed at all.

Thought I was alone with being stuck on bronze 5.
At first I didn’t bother, 7/3 in my first matches with overall good performance as dps.
I’m kinda rusty so I wasn’t surprised at all being placed so low but after some more wins with me performing better and better in every match I knew that there was something off.
Cuz a friend of mine with whom I play got placed silver 5, we played all the matches together and our dps performance is on par most of the time and he even skipped entire tiers after winning said matches and is already placed gold 2 or 1.
I don’t mind starting at the bottom as long as there is a way to climb, but right now it feels like an unrewarding grind, a meme if you want.
Is there something official from activision about this matter? Cuz rn I feel like they’re treating us like mushrooms…feeding us sh*t and keeping us in the dark.

I finished my first 7 rankeds on ow2 and got bronze 5, after another 7 wins I got bronze 5 again and now with 7 more wins I’m bronze 5 again, I have 21 wins and I’m still in bronze 5

Took me 30 wins now from bronze 5 to 3…

I am not stucked, placed silver 4 my first 7 games
In ow1 I was gold in competative. However in ow2 I got placed Bronze 3. Like what is going on here? should be at least silver, I don’t get it. Won 5 out of 7 matches too…

Took me 28 wins now from bronze 5 to 2

Since they’ve hopefully patched their defect out of the game, it will now be based on performance ingame, as well as getting the win ofc which does also help.
Let’s just hope they’ve actually bothered to quality assure their patch and performed the necessary impact assessments - given the performance to date, i am guessing its going to be defective again.

Maybe worth posting it on the tech channel to see if theres an issue there.
I am really doubting their competency when it comes to actually them testing their patches given the state of the initial release - and the bugs that were present to us all.
