congrats on the great launch. nothing like starting the sequel nobody asked for with a ranked dc.
come on lads. you had the time to prepare for this. you ran 2 betas, media had early access but you couldn’t rent a few more servers for the launch?
You might want to do a little research before picking your blame target…
Blizzard aint experiencing DDoS attacks… they just have not enough servers for the flood of returning players that wanted to check it out… To prevent this they could have just rent more servers for launch because OW peak was 40 mil players so they could have expect that few million of them will come back with a dozen of newcomers… but nah, they launched it on them old OW servers that barely held on the game with 10K players on it… also they are all merged from PC to all consoles… and I do wonder what is going to happen to switch version since switch wont be able to run OW2 due to HW limitations… so… they didnt think of that aswell…
If their company president has to talk about it, something’s going on.
And if you’re a scum bag looking to DDOS someone. Day of a game launch is a perfect target.
Yep… but why to DDoS a company that is going bankrupt? makes no sense… Blizzard server allocation is on WoW, Overwatch had few servers that could barely hold onto 15K players peaks… Microsoft still havent completed the purchase and here is the reflection on that because in my opinion they expected to have the budget to get some more servers back online for OW2 launch, since they dont have budget, they couldnt… and its easier to say “whoah we are being DDoSed” instead of saying “sorry fellers, we didnt had budget for more servers, we are trying hard to make a workaround to make them servers stable as soon as possible but current players flood is making them unstable, if you cant login now, please try it again in an hour or so to make the work a bit easier for us, thanks”
Activision Blizzard is going bankrupt… That’s a new one.
why else would they accepted X billion offer to be bought and managed by microsoft?
this is going on and on this whole year so IDK if ur a caveman that just came out and went on the internet but Microsoft is buying Blizzard because Blizzard needs the money to make the studio run and Microsoft just wants the studio to overseer their work… they fired quite alot of staff this year just cuz of money issues and PR issues…
Microsoft bought Minecraft too. Doesn’t mean they were bankrupt, microsoft just saw money and went for it like they’ve been doing for years…
But Bizzard is… follow some news once in a while… Microsoft sees money in CoD franchise just cuz its a game that everyone enjoys… Microsoft also bought Bethesda, also to increase their budget and game quality and be their overseers… But this is not about Microsoft but about Blizzard still being incompetent and lie about everything… Unfortunately many people are stuck now and the launch experience aint what it could be and players are just angry and I think if Blizzard said the truth at the beggining, everything could have been way better at this point…
Because it is a profitable business and Microsoft wanted it, and offered way above the share price to get it.
That’s how it works.
ActiBlizzs legal and PR issues were/are a pain for them, but they were never going to be a financial issue. The potential fines involves were tiny.
No ones stuck, and the launch hasn’t gone well but that’s due to external factors of scumbags being scumbags and attacking the servers.
Noone is stuck? Do you have eyes or are you just braindead? Many many many people are stuck cuz of the region/phone number… u dumbass
That isn’t stuck. That is just not having the requirements to enter. Sort it out (either getting a different number, or contacting Blizzard customer support) and you get in.
You aren’t in a position to be calling anyone names, given the bile you’ve spilled the last day or so.
Dumbass always gonna be a dumbass… I think you should take your ball picture and leave forum all together… yesterday you kept saying they are DDoSed up until the point where more people told you they were not DDoSed and they you vanished… now this again… just dont come here anymore please…
The fact that you seem to think they weren’t. Despite multiple sources inside and out of Blizzard confirming that was the case shows what you are.

I went to sleep. Its what people do,
Absolute garbage of launch. Congratz
I believe that is nothing but a word play. Having this many players trying to log in is not much different than getting DDoS’ed. The CEO is not wrong, they are getting DDoSed for not being prepared enough but also misleading with such cheap tactics.
If the disruption was caused by an actual attack, Asia region would also have suffered from the start but it was quite fine until that side of the world starts waking up.
From the CloudFlare blog:
From a high level, a DDoS attack is like an unexpected traffic jam clogging up the highway, preventing regular traffic from arriving at its destination.
This DDoS attack seems to last forever. 24h so far
They got attacked at least twice. Takes awhile to fix these issues.
No one is attacking. There are simply more players than Blizzard can handle.
I logged in multiple times without waiting any queues during the day and now can’t do anything but watching the failing queues at the after hours.
Same happened with Asia too. It is also odd to consider the attackers would have been attacking the server IP blocks but not to the centralised authentication systems. Everyone can log in but can’t play? Sure
