I played 7 hours comp last season with highest SR in gold range, which gave me measly 250 CP reward. This season I have played 53 hours! So in total 60 hours + season 14 250 CP reward. And in total I am at only 2445 CP. I think it’s way too grindy…
And the end of season rewards are pathetic, especially for low-mid ranks, but even highest ranks don’t get that much. 65 CP for bronze players, really!? You know there is people at that rank trying their hardest and putting in a lot of time to improve, that’s their reward?
I get it, more skilled gets more rewards, which is fine. But maybe the gap between rewards from one end to the other doesn’t have to be so extreme. And the CP rewards should be higher among all ranks as well. Maybe something more like:
1000 - 1250 - 1500 - 1750 - 2000 - 2250 - 2500.
It all feels too grindy and the end of season CP rewards are not worth it for almost all ranks.

yeas. agree. agree a lot a lot
eeeeven though you play soldier and symmetra
The golden guns where meant to be a more unique and rare reward.
At the same time rewarding higher ranks significantly more, creates an incentive for people to try their best at improving in order to rank up.
If you increase the end reward, you make them less unique and remove some of the incentive they provide towards ranking up.

If it’s any consolation, you’re not losing anything. Many skins are so good that I find the golden gun to be a cosmetic downgrade [except on the Seoul Dynasty skin].
So far as I noticed, it’s only kind of a show of status in QP, because over half of the OW population doesn’t play Comp (while a good chunk of comp players doesn’t touch QP).
As a result, QP players tend to notice the golden guns, but… yeah, that’s it.
Most comp players take them as granted, which means they don’t mean anything. We stop even caring after a while.
And as you noticed, the CP rewards depend on rank, so higher ranked players have a CP excess really fast, often buying golden guns left and right, even for heroes they never play.
(I can’t do it myself. Only bought the golden guns for Mercy, Reinhardt and Brig… can’t use one with a character I barely know how to play as).
Also, big golden guns (like Rein or Brig’s) can sometimes be a distraction, since they’re a huge shiny thing right in front of the player (at least Mercy’s staff is non-intrusive).
So don’t get worried. If you either rank up or endure, you will get one eventually. And then realize they are quite overrated.
all that work for something that looks sooooo tacky!
it only goes well with posh skins… which are garish to begin with…
for that much gridning they really need to add more gun options…
I mean who actually thinks that much gold is stylish?
maybe as fine inlay work in other metal yes… though other metals would be just as beautiful… or even better a mokume or something like that…
or something truly interesting looking i like titanium Damascus (Damascus is a bad term it’s technically pattern welded… we don’t know what Damascus is historically speaking)
Also maybe they could ad a genji blade with an actual traditional looking tsuba instead of the ugly industrial untraditional crap he usually uses…
seriously no love for fine metal crafting! all art teams in all game studios should be forced to spend a day in a real forge if you ask me… and with other craftmen to learn the beuty of fine crafmanship.
i noticed it takes around 100 levels to get the gold gun if u play mostly comp with some qp/arcade, and u can see there are tons of 600+ levels. waiting for gold gun is only exiting the first 3 times or so, then you start getting guns for heroes you don’t really main, just play time to time. i know ppl who just buy guns for torbs and bastions when they clearly never ply them, just for fun. so this is pretty fair imo
I’m a QP player, I never notice golden weapons
I played comp in Season 1-3. Only did my placement matches and this was enough to give me the only golden weapon i really cared about. Since then the golden weapons has not been enough of an incentive for me to suffer through the toxicity competitive brings.
However the whole idea of golden weapons was only exciting to me until i actually received one. then it quickly lost all meaning.
I’ve been 10 placement games away from my next golden weapon since season 3 ended. But what’s the point?
Let’s just forget about the rewards i really don’t like the way how golden guns works, this is an opinion comes from a guy who has spend so much time in this game that i personally call it “experience” playing comp nowadays isn’t challenging anymore which means Blizzard needs to come up with a new way to unlock golden guns i hate it when people are trolling around in comp especially in low-mid ranks like me.
