Headset issues when playing

Hey, guys. I have recently bought a new headset for my OMEN by HP laptop. The headset name is Logitech G733 Gaming Headset. I was thinking this would be a good pick for Overwatch as well. But Ive had a ton of issues. I cant always hear players through my headset, but instead through my PC speaker. Its funny because sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesnt work. I have a USB dongle connected to my laptop, when playing. I have tried every setting there is, and still it only works sometimes. Sometimes I can hear them through my PC speaker, and sometimes through my headset. What is the problem? I really cant figure it out. Any ideas? Thanx in advance.

This will be a Windows issue, when you plug the dongle in before you play. Just go to the bottom right and check the volume.

There is will tell you what the output method is.

The volume is fine. I can hear them clearly and they can hear me clearly. And I have selected the gaming headset as the right playback device. Still it doesnt work.

Next option is in the sound settings in game, make sure it is the correct playback device.

Its funny, because now my playback device isnt there anymore. It has been there before. The only option I have now is default. Whats even more funny is that it didnt always work even with my gaming headset equipped. This is so weird.

Haha. Good old technology.

I think mines set to default, and then I just change it in Windows depending on what I’m using.

Hasn’t failed me, yet.

Where in Windows do I change it?

If you click on volume in the task bar, above the volume level it’ll say what the output device is, click on that and it should give you a list to pick from.

It has two options. The first one is speaker/headphones, and the second option is my gaming headset. Nothing happens in the sound settings in-game, when I press my headset. Its still only default.

Default in game should just use whatever Windows is set to.

But I have had the option to choose my headset there before. And even then it only worked a few times. I dont get why it worked for a while, and then it started using the PC speaker again.

Did you try to update the drivers for your headset? I had similar issues with my G933, and after downloading the latest drivers, I rarely ever had problems with it.

Go to logitechs webpage and download the drivers needed for your headset, they also have some sort of app you can download for your pc to help you be up to date with your logitech devices

I have downloaded the GHub for my headset. Is that considered a driver? I have also downloaded the ARX Control app for my cellphone.

Anyway, I think I have made it work. On voice chat devices in the sound menu in-game, it is speaker/headphones when it doesnt work, and its default system device when it works. I just went to game settings, and then voice chat before starting the game, and I changed the default settings to my headset instead. And after that it seems to work. Hopefully forever. It went from speaker/headphones to default system device, which is the setting that works. Feel free to give me more advice if I still have issues with this.

Happy to hear that it sounds like your problem got resolved:)

The G-hub can be used to download drivers, yes. But if your problem persisted even after downloading it, there is usually an option to download the driver directly from their websites aswell. I just threw it out as a suggestion since I didn’t see it mentioned before, but I’m glad you were able to fix your problem:) cheers mate
