All the time i am playin’ OW, i am askin myself. What have been before Eichenwalde? How did Balderich joined OW? I am really want to know. This character impressed me so much and i findin interestin’ everything about him!

Balderich didn’t join Overwatch because he died after the Eichenwalde battle, Reinhardt did.

Reinhardt took his place after the battle of Eichenwalde, so to speak. Balderich and Reinhardt were part of the Crusaders, an elite division of the Deutsches Bundeswehr using mechanized armor to combat the Omnic uprising.

Balderich was pretty much their commander and a distinguished soldier in the German military and Overwatch recruited exceptional individuals from any nation’s ranks to join their elite international defense force. That’s how Balderich got offered the position in Overwatch.

During his last moments, he passed this honor on to Reinhardt, along with encouraging him to abandon his reckless ways and to always fight for honor and justice instead of just for glory :slight_smile:
