High latency in Overwatch

I have average of 85-90ms~ latency ALL the time. I am from Ukraine, and I’m playing on EU region. In all other games I have 40-60 latency tops to EU servers, games like battlefield whatever, you name it.

In OW, however, it never drops below 80 ms and sometimes even spikes to 120 ms.

I am playing via ethernet, have high end machine. I’ve tried these things so far and NONE of them reduced the latency even by 5 ms:

  • Updating drivers
  • Editing registry to add TcpNoDelay and TcpAckFrequency
  • Forwarding ports
  • Rebooting network
  • Resetting winsock data
  • Flushing DNS and renewing IP
  • Changing DNS
  • No proxy server / VPN is used
  • No bandwith hogging applications besides OW are running

None of this has helped, at all.

Any idea what’s going on? Having 80+ latency regularly makes me miss shots. This is a major hinderance to me.

Same issues on xbox too lately. Never had issues with lag or dc’s untill the last week. Now its unplayable.

Is this post just gonna go unattended by Blizzard support? I have ping issues. I cannot fix it without help.

for me it’s kinda similar? started getting random disconnects and ping spikes since the anniversary event. seems to have gotten a bit better today (i did placements with only 1 spike, no disconnect)
i tried contacting support, they gave me all the generic answers which is fine, i tried all of them and it’s still the same. I saw someone on twitter mention that some people are getting re-routed to middle east servers for no reason so that might be it?
either way, it’s pretty weird and honest to god unplayable when i get latency to go as high as 300

5 days and no reply from Blizzard. Guess it means they finally admit that EU servers are broken. Nice.

It would help if you could get a WinMTR and post it on a site such as pastebin and then post the link here so we can try to help diagnose this for you. Please keep the test running for a while you have the high latency to ensure the data is shown in the results!

Did two WinMTR runs - each where done in this way:

  1. Launch WinMTR
  2. Launch Overwatch
  3. Play for two games
  4. Stop WinMTR, exported it into text

A whole week without a reply. Latency of 80+ is so high that it means outplaying Mccree flash as a tracer is almost impossible. So playing tracer if there’s a mccree is no use. When am I getting ANY feedback from blizzard?

same issue here. i play 40-60 ms any game expect Ow. it is 85-115 around. that is annoying.

Edit: Nope. I didn’t. For anyone reading, blizzard support told me to update my drivers and call my ISP to ask what is going on. Nothing is going on. I updated my drivers, and ISP told me it’s an issue on blizzard’s side (DUH). So they don’t want to fix my problem. Fuсk blizzard, #FreeHongKong

Same problem for me for a two weeks already. Why there are no support watsoever?
I played an America because it lags less then EU. Blizzard is not good at all nowdays.

I have the same issue for over a month now. Tried every possible method in “How to fix latency issues” Blizzard page, nothing helped. My ISP provider says it’s Blizzard server side fault. I can kinda agree with them as I have no issues with any other games or general internet availability.

I guess they messed up something when setting up ME servers. When running WinMTR I would always spot suspicious routing paths to Bahrain or even USA and then back to EU (Amsterdam) …

Hopefully Blizzard starts paying attention to this issue.
