How I'd change Mercy

First and foremost, make rez her ultimate again. It made way more sense in terms of balance and lore. Now I’m not asking for a full revert, limit it 2-3 players and keep the current range. This way team mates will have to die closer together to get more value from it and tempo rezzing was usually the best use of her old ultimate anyways. Now in exchange you could shorten the cast time, maybe by 20% ? (Obviously numbers can be tweaked but it’s the general idea of bringing multi-rez back without some of the annoying factors like a full team rez, hiding and instant cast).

Now what about valk ? Well hear me out on this one as I know it’s become a bit of a meme in recent memory but tone valk down a chunk more and make it her new e. It would be extremely useful as an engage tool to keep some of her team topped up or damage boosted and a mobility tool for mercy herself.

Ultimately I just want Mercy to be more engaging and fun to play while also being more impactful outside a single rez every 30 seconds. Even if she was stronger in the current meta, her kit just feels kinda shallow and boring to play. Atleast imo.

Obviously I’m no game designer and maybe what I’m suggesting is a bit on the crazy side but Mercy has been the hot topic character for some time now and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

Res wasn’t broken to begin with, it was only perceived to be by the community. So, I have no problem with making it an ult again, but maybe others do. Again, I believe the change was made to appease the community. From a design point of view, the mass res ult was fine.

Where a player dies is very random, and encouraging the team to get into a death ball for res isn’t something I’m a fan of. Lucio, Brig, Moira and Ana all have elements to them that require the team to gather into a small, tightly compact “death ball”. I always liked how Mercy was different in that she synergises very well with a more spread out, co-ordinated assault from multiple angles. I prefer that sort of gameplay rather than the “Everyone get into a ball” gameplay.

This is a pretty decent thing to do, as it allows Mercy to regulate healing output when it is required.

In summary, your changes aren’t too bad in that they patch up a few issues with Mercy, but I’m not a fan of the short range on the res and this rework doesn’t necessarily add much skill expression into the kit.

Yeah sure, tell that to Esports level games when that means 1 more life for pro players. Just old rez alone is enough to kill 1 support spot for high level games.
Mercy is ok now. Not op but not weak.
Personally i won’t think about buffing supports or tanks in this 3/3 meta.
