open qeue is basically overwatch 1, it’s just 1 player less but updated passives and heroes you’re free to play that.
if you’re gonna argue OW1 is role lock then no, that’s competitive OW1 not classic OW.

Playing against x 2/3 tanks is a lot different in OW2 than OW1. It’s all I see in open queue., it’s really broken.
it was in overwatch 1 too, that was the reason for role qeue, it just took some time before people realized how strong playing tanks were to win games.
like even back then when mccree could literally outsnipe widows because he had infinite range, there was 4 winston comps that would just roll most games, and then the hero lock happened and you couldn’t have more than 1 winston, but then big tank comps continued to just beat most comps so role qeue eventually was introduced.
like they nerfed tanks more and more and more and buffed tank counters more and more and then couldn’t do it more so eventually they just went rolequeue and started rolling back some of those changes and then they alternated buffing and nerfing different tanks like shifting metas through patching nerfs and buffs for the tanks to dictate how the game would play to switch it up
and then overwatch 2 happened where the tank is basically everything a tank should have been in overwatch 1 if it weren’t for necessary balancing so tanks couldn’t ruin the game for the rest of the players.
I dunno, in my experience, most people either choose mostly DPS, or actually played 2-2-2. Tanks were nowhere near as powerful and tanky as they are in OW2.
did you play 1 tank vs 2 tanks in overwatch 1 after hero lock and before role qeue?
did you see the last games of pro overwatch before role qeue?
tanks were always good, they still are, it’s just not as overbearing as it always have been because you are only allowed 1.
why i prefer tanking and tanks overall in overwatch 2 is because i’m not beholden to pick a certain tank over others because what the other tank player picked, that and whenever my tank partner died or i died we simply just lost the fight and that was really frustrating.
Well Overwatch Classic will be introduced in the future as part of OW2. So wait for that?
What… you need a source? Just look at Blizzards history is all the proof you need.
WC3? Reforged! SC? Remade! World of WarCraft? Classic ftw! I’ll bet you 10 banana’s there will be an OW Classic in the near future
A lot of people miss OW1 and will continue to miss it for years to come.
Regardless of your views on OW1 v OW2, Blizzard completely decimated their community and have introduced more negativity and toxicity in 1 patch, than the entirety of OW’s lifespan.
We’re being pitted against each other because of vile business decisions and it’s a real shame to see the community be destroyed overnight.
But truthfully folks, we’re pissing into the wind here. There’s no chance of redemption here, they won’t listen to their playerbase and we will take what we are given, or take nothing at all.
Welcome to Modern Gaming.
No I played vs mainly more DPS than usual, 1 tank, 1 healer 4 DPS normally. Because in OW1 tanks would get destroyed by many DPS as they’re not as powerful than in OW2.
That’s true, but nowhere near as powerful and tanky as they are in OW2. Which is why they’re getting nerfed. In open queue I normally see 3 tanks now, that never used to be the case in OW1.
i would see a lot of tanks, sometimes 3, sometimes 4 and even 5 sometimes in a team.
but in QP it was usually all about having fun and picking dps until the enemy wanted to win and started picking either 1 or more tanks to just turn it into an all out stomp.
that’s why i actually started playing tanks because nobody would pick them in QP and it was an easy win until they picked 1 or more tanks themselves, but usually they were just too obsessed with playing dps and rather lose than pick a tank.
like it wasn’t uncommon to see 6 dps teams in QP, and it wasn’t uncommon to see 1 tank 5 dps stomp those teams.
like there were always some people in QP that just wanted to win a little more and would just pick to win and when they did they either picked a support or a tank.
if there was already a tank they would pick a support, if they had 2 tanks, you picked atleast 2 tanks and it escalates from there to usually having 2 supports and 4 tanks.
so it really just depended on the players.
but yeah tanks are better now because they are balanced around the concept that you can make them more OP now and be whatever you want them to be and they can’t take over the game by everyone picking tanks.
but tanks even though they were nerfed a lot in OW1 towards the end, they still decided the games most of the times even if they were only 2.
like you could always 1v1 a dps or support as a tank and always had, that never really changed as i’m concerned.
Your post sucks and you are rude, hopefully admins see this and ban you + post.
Ow2 is great, sure can be improved here and there. But I sure do not miss sitting in 25min + que as I did in ow1 because no one played the game. And if ow2 was as bad as you think, no one would be playing it. But been top played game on twitch since launch and still going strong.
