How many reports until a ban?

How many reports does it take too get banned i was wondering because im in low competitive ranks silver gold plat and every game it dosent matter if we loose or win i get a report for playing widow or genji (ps that often leads too a composition of the team fail and toxic pepole getting on my nerves)

It is unknown how many reports are required to trigger a penalty.

However, we do know that only one report by the same player counts and reports decay over time.

Regarding the number, I recall someone testing how many reports they needed to get banned but I don’t know the source.

Have you considered switching heroes more often than trying to cheat the report system by knowing how many you need for a ban? Clearly the players you are matching up with don’t want or need Widow/Genji, and if you know it’s failing you really should change or use the LFG option. You’ll only keep getting more reports if other people think you are sabotaging their game.

people can play what they want, onetricking/mainign an hero is not a reportable thing

I never said anything about one tricking/maining and yes people can play what they want, but you have to compromise somewhere. If you know you are assisting in the fail by playing a hero that isn’t the best one at that time then is it any wonder your teammates will get toxic. That Report option for “Gameplay Sabotage” will be used, no doubt about it and considering the reports add up to a ban and are not necessarily read by Blizz, no one in end will care whether you tried your best or not. That’s this mess of a report system for you…

Why does my rank have anything to do with this? When I actually played comp often I worked my way up from gold to Diamond solo so please don’t come in here with the excuse that everyone is bringing you down. There is now the LFG option, nothing should stop you from finding a good team.

On a side note, a Widow could get bronze or silver damage but if she is taking down stragglers with headshots, the eliminations are still helping the team, doesn’t that you are more important because you got gold damage. Contribution can come in many forms.

I certainly hope it takes more than a few reports of different kinds for a ban. Already had a 1-week ban for being toxic, but that was admittedly on me.

However, today someone might have reported me, I couldn’t even be sure if he meant me or not. I only checked the team-chat after the match, where he kept calling out to me, by my played character’s name (Moira), asking me if I could switch to a tank or widow. I NEVER play tanks and I know I wouldn’t be good with Widow, which I told him afterwords.

He also accused me that I healed nothing, even though I got a gold for healing, when there was one other healer on the team as well. Plus, as I always do, I also assisted in many eliminations.

So, I told him his comment about a report had better not have been for me, because I’m not gonna have another ban, a few days away from the coming event, potentially missing on it, all because this person blames their own incompetence on me, when they failed to capitalize on the healing and assists I could provide, which was more than the other healer did.

I will not suffer such insolence and an entirely unwarranted report, especially when it can potentially result in ban that’ll make me miss out on content.

I have been reported 7 times for hacking cuz ye know everyone has those moments where they just play like a fcn god and then u just play like garbage again and I am always so scared of getting banned from my favorite game and I still don’t know how many reports you need to get banned even if it is fake reports :frowning:

5 reports i think… ok
