I’ve come to the conclusion that the current report system in place is abuse sensitive and anyone having a bad day or social problems will abuse it to satisfy their frustration.
Normally I would totally agree, after all they’re normal means of communication and something you would expect to hear in a team strategy game, especially in competitive mode, but unfortunately this isn’t the case in Overwatch.
Here’s how you’re actually forced to play due to the over sensitive community
I don’t know how many reports I have gotten, no way of knowing. never ever did I get a warning or ban, silence in game, and I am sitting on a healthy level four endorsement.
I am also active in comms, shotcalling, coordinating the team, calling out good and bad plays on my team (including my own), etc. Communication isn’t always that hard, though EU comms are generally trash.
I’ve actually been reported many times for not switching. People will just say that I am toxic on voice chat. And there is no proof. So blizz will take the word of the many people the report you who are abusing the report system. I’ve asked blizz support what I’m supposed to do and his reply was “disable text and voice chat”.
Blizz can see if you have chat and voice chat enabled or disabled. And if you have it disabled then the reports have no merits.
What a ridiculous solution.
They admit that their system is flawed.
And in order to avoid any abuse you have to disable all social features in the game, this really sounds ridiculous.
I appealed demanding full evidence to support their claim on my account.
If they can’t provide it, than the suspension is invalid.
People will flame and report you if you ever ask those. You will be eventually silenced or banned. Everyone knows this community is toxic to the bone. If they are playing like that, go down to their level, play like them. Don’t try to carry those teams. In the end if you win by your efforts (or 3 of you) you will be rewarding them. And they will continue playing like that forever thinking they are doing the right thing…
Wow, is it really that bad? I have only played 4 matches in comp so far, only had the game a couple weeks (very late adopter I know) but have mostly stuck to QP to “git gud” as they say.
From what I’ve read so far I’m really hesitant to get into comp in case I get abused over voice chat
That’s just completely off the mark. I’m always vocal in voice chat and generally receive a whole bunch of endorsements every time.
“Call outs” - Those are good, unless you’re cluttering voice by stating the obvious.
“Feedback” - That’s the first issue already. Unless you review a game from a couple of different persepctives, most of the times you won’t have a proper feedback you can give to your team mates. You don’t see what they see, and likewise they can’t see what you see.
“Healing requests” - Love those. Especially when someone flanks or dives like mad and then wonders why Lucio isn’t healing them. Or they are completely oblivous to the sight lines of their Ana. Or they don’t realize Moira is out of her healing ressource. Or they think they are the only one needing healing. Or they are already getting healed but are far too aggressive or die anyway. You have at least a few hours on healers, but one of 2 things happened: the healer you’re talking about knows a lot more about the role than you, or the healer is only playing support because there are 6 DPS mains on the team and you instalocked, so they had to. Either way, you only see your perspective. The only place for healing requests is either out of combat, or when you’re clearly the only person needing healing, but generally speaking, the tanks are the more valuable healing targets - a) because of armor and b) because once the tanks are down, the team fight is pretty much over.
“Swap requests” - At gold, being able to play a hero well is generally more important than a perfect meta. Yeah, you need a main tank and you need healers, but apart from that it doesn’t matter much. Moira, Ana, to a lesser degree Mercy can all keep a team alive, doesn’t matter which one you get, Lucio, Zen, Brig in addition all work fine. Rein is meta, sure, but a good Orisa works just as fine, and a good Winston + D.Va is still good. With off tank, all of them have their merits. So it’s really just about DPS when it comes to swapping (or about DPS swapping to another role), which is where you have to ask why you don’t swap yourself. Sure, I get that Pharah wants a Mercy - but why don’t you instead swap to something to go with the core? The only people it’s reasonable to ask to swap (still nicely, because humans) is a Widow without impact, a Pharah that’s countered, an Ana that doesn’t heal enough or a DPS to counter certain opponents.
“Shot calling” - All of the above kinda falls into that category. But the fact of the matter is that you’re not the boss of the team. You can make suggestions, and if they’re good, people will do it. The essence of it is that in most games, you will have more people wanting to play DPS than is healthy for the comp. So if anyone wants to make comp suggestions, it sounds hollow when they do it as DPS. It’s the old “We need 2-2-2, so you all have to swap while I stick with my Widow/Genji/Tracer.” Leading is about doing the hard work yourself, not just ordering others to do it.
And yeah, if you’re vocal and good at it - and if you also play your role well - you won’t get reported while those endorsements roll in.
Getting endorsement level 5 however… well, I guess you have to bribe people for that.^^
Currently sitting at level 1, because the game keeps crashing for some reason. It’s not my fault, but Blizzard punishes me for that anyway. Even though i always rejoin the match ^^,
Game crashed twice yesterday and I lost SR and got a 75% XP loss for 10 games.
Then don’t play until you have a stable net connection/sort out the problem. You are punishing your teammates. Even if you join back you have a serious downtime, and lose all ult charge.
I’ve literally tried everything, man. Its something with the game, came after a patch in november.
And i dont know about punishing my teammates, i reconnect after 10 seconds. So i dont lose that much time, but still i get -SR and get a ban. I dont think that is fair
Game mechanics for DC is pretty bad. There is no pause options like there is in other competitive games (CS, DOTA 2) and why should you lose the ult charge and stats? I think it is just terrible game design. You shouldnt be punished this hard for something that is basically out of your control.
That being said, I still play the game and I will continue to. I play to relax and not to push rank, so I dont care that much about the SR loss and bans. If I did, I would not be playing the game anymore at all really…
This auto ban/silence/suspension also applies to Call of Duty black ops 4.
And we all know call of duty is a extremely toxic community winning the entire time is enough motivation for other people to simply report.
Isn’t that hilarious?
My god these companies are a joke.
Cash grab scams, poorly designed unfinished products and abuse sensitive services.
