Despite the small nerf she’s had since release, I think it’s still obvious to most ranks that Sojourn is powerful, and only gets more so the higher up in skill you go, later becoming the undisputed best DPS.
Reducing her railgun headshot just under 200 dmg is not even the best way to nerf her oneshot capability when people can still mercy damage boost her over the edge, which is what all the pros are doing.
I personally would’ve opted instead for a charging animation before firing her railgun, a bit like Mei’s icicles.
But Blizzard is understandly reluctant to revert changes or we’d never let the meta settle into anything coherent. So I think it’s best to focus on balancing a different part of her kit - her mobility.
Now like the change to her railgun I proposed, you could nerf her slide by having her boosters have to charge up prior to sliding over say 1.5 seconds , then you’d have to press SHIFT again to activate them, and if you didn’t they’d go on cooldown anyway (a little like Baptiste’s Exo Boots).
OR if that’s too confusing I have a better solution that reins in her mobility AND railgun in one fell swoop.
Her railgun charge is used for her slide. This forces you to pick between using one of the two. Partial charge grants less of a speed boost and jump.
Now she can keep her core gunplay while also not being too mobile. Or she can stay as mobile but give up her oneshot capability.
