So, I’ve been playing the new Doomfist without end ever since the nerfs came through. At the beginning, I though that they wouldn’t be as bad, but dear god they’re hideous! His previous play style got completely butchered! I rarely even recognize him anymore!
Getting to enemies is harder than ever before, with the use of Seismis Slam; Since enemies no longer get pulled in, setting up Uppercut for the combo is incredible frustrating to pull off! However, even after landing all my abilities perfectly, I find it hard to actually finish my opponent off. Usually, they survive with around 30 to 40 of their hp. If you don’t manage to hit a crit right at the start, the target will most likely survive.
Frankly, I stopped using the combo completely since its completely broken in an unusable way. The enemy often ends up either above or underneath me, gets seemingly randomly positioned which just makes it way too hard to actually aim properly at them, especially since Doomfist only has 4 shoots.
The only reliable way to kill off enemies is with his Rocket Punch which just reduces him into a brain-dead Fisting bot. Ironic isn’t it? Instead of increasing his skill ceiling, they lowered it drastically!
And dear god, what were they thinking when they nerfed his ultimate? I though ultimates were supposed to be a characters defining thing. However, it’s just hot garbage now! Rarely anything dies from it! One kill is the most I’ve been able to get out of it. Just imagine if the ultimate of other heroes was nerfed like Doomfist’s. Take Genji’s dragon blade for example. Reduce the damage by half and remove the Dash Reset, Boom that’s how bad Meteor Strike feels now. Just pathetic.
To conclude it all, Doomfist just feels like an entire different hero to me. Far weaker than ever before, to a point where it feels like I’m throwing for playing him. It feels like I’m playing the dead husk of a once proud hero.
You said it yourself. The fact the players are now more difficult to aim at during the combo is a problem for you. Which means the skill to pull off his combo has increased.
You are opting to resort to fist attempts to score kills rather than improve your ability to track targets. This tells me his skill requirement has increased.
In theory, yes, the skill needed should increase but that’s not the case. With the way DF’s Hand Cannon works, tracking is far too difficult. Missing a few pellets already means that the target will most likely survive. His primary fire just isn’t build for tracking random enemy movements.
Same goes for Brigitte. Nerfed into the ground.
Im quiting healing. To hel with mercy nerfs…to hel Brigitte nerfes. Im going dps from now on.
Thnx blizzard
Is that a bad thing? A lot of squishy heroes have been complaining in the last few months that Doom can pretty much insta kill them with his combo from half way across the map, with no chance of escape unless if they are bubbled or helped by another team mate.
Is the fact that now Doom can’t just delete them like that a bad thing?
Almost every single character had some sort of counter play to his combo. McCree has his flash bang, Ana her sleep dart, etc. Sure, if you miss your ability, you’re dead but you cannot complain that you had no counter play at all. Honestly, the only characters that had none were Zen and Soldier and even they could be fatal to a Doomfist if he were to just jump at them up front.
Doomfist’s entire kit is revolved around this get in-get a pick-get out while trying to feed as little as possible play style. During which he puts himself in great risk since any form of CC can be fatal to him. He does not have the luxury of Widowmaker and Hanzo, comfortably sitting in the far back with no pressure on them whenever or not they hit their next shot on that target across the map.
If he cannot dive the enemy back lines successfully and take out the supports, he contributes nothing to his team.

Dear mister Mume.
The same kit you’ve mentioned is still there. The only thing that has changed is that the kill is no longer automatically handed to you on a silver platter once you’ve landed the slam on some poor sap in the backline.
In conclusion quoting some fellow Dark Souls players: Git gud.
See, this is what I don’t get. For Doomfist to go right there into someone’s grill even though he is big and loud and completely reliant on cooldowns is not considered skillful at all. Its a given that he’ll do that and get a kill. Meanwhile a Widowmaker killing someone on the other side of the map is of course skillful and should be rewarded therefore she is completely fine.

Such arbitrary definitions.
Well if every doomfist player in the game would all of a sudden switch to widowmaker, widow would get nerfed and doomfist buffed back to where he was… win-win
Except Widowmaker is already more popular than him, popularity has nothing to do with being “unfun” .
But wait, I get it. Both characters can one shot but if a support player gets nailed by a Widow they can simply wait around the corner and depend on the rest of their team to deal with the problem.
Cant do that with Doomfist, he hunts you down, if you are weak you are dead over and over again.
Now think about which characters have been complained about the most throughout Overwatch history.
Genji
Tracer
Doomfist
What did they all have in common?
They hunt down supports.
Well dang, that was not a hard thing to figure out.
Df op and you al know it. Doesnt mean you dont need skill to play him well.
One shotting with df is way easier then with widow…also something you know.
Imo they nerfed the wrong things on him but nerfs were called for.
Nerfs were called for because he was unfun, not because he was OP. There is a difference. Of course the people who were pro-nerfs will try to spin it like it was necessary for the health of the entire game.
Most people can’t differentiate the difference between being OP and being annoying. However, I do agree that Rocket Punch is kinda over tuned. I don’t understand why Blizzard didn’t just nerfed the damage on it.
With the current nerfs, Rocket Punch becomes Doom’s most reliable ability, which means that he will annoy people more than he did before. So, they will still beg for more nerfs (that actually happened to me in a game yesterday where the enemy genji kept complaining how DF isn’t nerfed enough because of it)
