I found a way to make open queue fun

Some faff to pad out the story.

6 stacking with friends, the group lead wasn’t paying attention and mistakenly queued us into Open Queue (I hate open queue, it is usually an awful experience (hot take)).

“Luckily” we got Oasis, a nice KoTH map… so we devised a plan, a challenge if you wish.

Round 1 - all DPS
Round 2 - all Support
Round 3 - all Tank

We won 2-0, but it was the most ridiculous game of any mode I have played in a long time.

Anyone got any other weird challenges for us to spice up open queue ranked if we decided to try it again?

make up nonsensical comps based on lore or other things.

the talon comp with sombra, sigma, widow, reaper and moira and baptiste.

or you can go by skins, like pirate skins comp etc.

Our all support comp was the funniest. We just played in a small ball and the enemy just got more and more tilted.

When you have Bap, Brig and Moira healing. Lucio speeding you about, Zen and Ana dumping damage. Great fun.

it usually is, i did it back before bap was released.
it was really strange how well it worked.

i love the idea with the skins!! a pirate skins comp, winter skins comp, halloween monsters comp that s sooo cool!! and the lore based is rly cool!! omg i gotta try these out with friends sometime :DDD

It is fun to do these “meme” games in open queue ranked. Because if you know if you lost to some meme comp you’d be a bit miffed.

last game i played on volskaya point B our ana asked who to nano as the enemy were pushing in in the last 20secs and our rein suggested to nano me, a humble lucio…:DD
let’s just say ‘angry’ does not BEGIN to describe the enemy’s reaction when we won with a reddit lucio play :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

honestly even though some of it are pretty meme’ish some are pretty decent comps that aren’t really “discovered” i think.

yeah! talon would be sig, widow/sombra/reaper or df + moira/bap(ig?) that could be reaaaaaally annoying to deal with
another one could be ‘the old guard’ - rein, ana, 76, torb, reaper and mercy(ig?) which sounds p fun to run
or how about ‘the misfits’ - zarya, ball, hog, symm, junk and lucio since they dont rly do either of the Big Two organizations(talon/ovw) orisa could fit here as well since she s not rly allied with either as well

could do the junker crew, basically all characters that either have junker skins or have a connection with junkrat and hog or junkertown.

yeah!! ball, junk, hog, dva, ana has a skin i think but im kinda drawing a blank on who the 6th would be? am i forgetting someone?
hey how abt a no mobility comp? XDD
orisa, bastion, ana, torb, zen, hog? ig? idk wanted to put in widow since they dont move a lot but she does have the grapple hook thing so
EDIT: that s just a modified(-bap) pirate ship i just realized

zarya and mei(no right click allowed XDD), reaper/symm//sombra/tracer/df/gengu + brig and uhhhhhhhh lucio? mercy? she has a 15m range so im not too sure
another comp could be “where is my animated short @blizz”: pharah, zen, torb, lucio again(man my froggy boy doesnt get enough love), symm, ball

ohh i love that umm does symm count as an engineer? maybe pharah cause of her power armor
how about a “cc only” mccree, ana, df, brig, hog and sig
on a slightly unrelated note i wish we had more pajama/casual skins like mei’s or 76’s “ugly sweater” skin that d be fun
