I Got Banned For Standing Up For Myself

Recently I was in a comp game, and there was this one player who didnt do didnt listen to the team, and didnt help at all, so the rest of the team(including me) got mad at him. Except this guy was a toxic player, and told every single one of us to f*ck yourself, so i reported him for toxicity. then the next game he was on my team again, because i already avoided 3 people. He knew who i was and started to trash talk me, and immediately say im a thrower, even though he is the one throwing, and then this other person started trash talking with the first guy, being super toxic, and threatened to report me for “throwing”, and being toxic, so I reported them. Then guess what, the next day I GOT SILENCED, the ONLY time where i got mad is when i tried to stand up for myself. Now there is no point for me to play comp if i cant communicate, the report system is rigged, and blizzard should just remove the silence system, because you need to communicate to play the game, and if you cant make call outs or just communicating with the team in general, there is no point of playing. Also if you are silenced you cant defend or stand up for yourself when your teammates think you are throwing but you are actually doing really good, because it happened to a friend of mine, and he got suspended for “throwing”

You can’t say anything on OW without getting reported and silenced so it’s best to just stay quiet.

fair point, but the report system is still rigged, and the silence thing is still pretty dumb

People false-report all the time.
There is no defense against report system abuse :unamused:

It’s best to just mute the guy if he’s being annoying.
It’s funny as hell when they realize they’re talking to nothing.

Yeah people can report as much as they want for nothing, no one checks them anyway, so the best answer is “fight fire with fire”.

If someone is throwing your game, please report him for game sabotage, not for abusive chet because he said fo. That will ruin other players’ experience that will get in a comp game with a silenced person.

There is no such thing as assaulter-defender for blzrd. When someone threatens you, calls you names, asks you you k.ys or flames you, you should say “thank you come agane”. Unless you want to get silenced/banned.

I know the feeling. I got banned for calling some one a ‘idiot’ once because he insulted me. Because I had a earlier conflict (3 months ago) they refused to lift the 2 weeks ban, which is a reason for me to quit the game. Blizzard doesn’t care about the community and doesn’t listen - save yourself the trouble and quit.

just leave voice and text chat, you cant do or say anything without being reported, only chance if you be quiet.

OP is probably lying or omitting on purpose a lot of other reports he got, you need like a hundred reports before a suspension or silence. No way he got suspended for a handful of reports.

Also when a silence or suspension happens it’s right after the game where you got the last report needed to pass the threshold of reports required. If you got silenced the next day it’s because you were toxic again.

Oh and lastly, discussing an ongoing sanction on the forums is forbidden, you can get suspended from the forums for it.

Wrong.

Right, I speak from experience and reading other people’s experience. At least explain why I’m wrong in your opinion if you want to contribute to the discussion.

  1. You don’t get silenced/banned just from one instance where something happens.
  2. As for defending oneself: how old are you? I learned at the age of 11 that you can defend yourself without stooping to violence or being toxic yourself. If you can’t handle yourself like an adult, play a children’s game like CoD.
  3. Yes, being unfairly accused is quite aggravating, but unless you’re doing something wrong yourself, it won’t happen that often. In fact, only once had I had a situation where someone told me they reported me (in a PvE game, where I played Torb - a situation where sometimes people tell me to do less so they can do a bit more themselves, while the person reported me for using hammer + turret instead of gun + turret). And if you deal with those instances maturly, you mitigate a lot of the damage. Reacting to baseless accusations aggressively only makes you look bad. Deal with it calmly and explain the facts.
  4. Most of the people who complain about false reports and being banned for toxicity often show in the forums that they do have those toxic tendencies. And then there’s of course the people saying “I get persecuted unfairly. So I report everyone all the time.” Yeah… “unfairly”, for sure.

I had abuse from some guy yesterday, he kept saying “Bad Rein”, throughout the match (He did nothing to benefit the team), he swore at me n everything, and the only thing I said was. “Reported”. Sometimes you just need to not talk otherwise you feed the troll and end up suffering consequences yourself just by defending yourself.

the thing is the last game i played before i got silenced was the game i got false reported

Still means that up until that point you received tons and tons of reports. Where did they come from? Where did they go? Where did they come from, cotton-eye Joe.

i am always Active in the chat in games. I always say “glhf” at the beggining of the match and “ggwp” even if i lose. But this one time it got kinda similar to this thread. i said “glhf” at the beggining of a qp and one person said kys to me. i asked why and he responded “cuz youre an idiot” and i started standing up for myself. finally, the game ended and i went to bed, the next day i started overwatch and i got a warning! a freaking warning for standing up for myself! it said "you have been reported multiple times for “abusive chat” and my guess is that he told his whole team to report me and they did so i dont really like the blizzard employees that handle reports for ow. (if there even is any)
