I lost alot of self esteem

It came directly from the former creative director of Call of duty who worked on the 3 first modern warfare games in a VIDEO interview. He couldn’t say anything until that point because when you leave/get laid off from a game studio, you’re under a strict NDA for x amount of years.

Simple. That’s why they have people gaslight for them.

That isn’t how NDAs work. NDAs cannot be used to prevent the disclosure of information that is in the public interest. Which such a leak would be. Also worth noting “An NDA only provides protection for information that is specifically identified and defined in the agreement”. Similar to how the whole “patent” argument falls apart as both legal documents have to be very specific on how they are applied.

Also, misusing “gaslighting” for impact isn’t helpful.

Yet you like his comment.

100%. Couldn’t agree more.

That is EXACTLY how an NDA work in the gaming industry, buddy. You’re not allowed to talk about anything that was going on within the company or what the company did during your tenure, once you quit or get laid off. Most game studios have laid this out very carefully to avoid leaks after someone quit or gets laid off. It’s to protect intellectual properties and infrastructure and more.

I think that explains why.

Limitations of NDAs

Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) have some limitations, including:

  • Enforcement challenges: Enforcing an NDA can be challenging, particularly if the information has already been disclosed or if the scope of the NDA is too broad. Even if a breach of the NDA is identified, it can be difficult to prove damages or to obtain an injunction.
  • Public interest: In some cases, there may be a public interest in disclosing certain information, such as in cases of illegal activity, public health and safety, or government transparency. NDAs cannot be used to prevent the disclosure of information that is in the public interest.
  • Limited protection: An NDA only provides protection for information that is specifically identified and defined in the agreement. If information is not covered by the NDA, or if it is disclosed in a way that is not prohibited by the agreement, it may not be protected.

Yeah. An NDA wouldn’t stop you from leaking such things. Also, they talk publicly about match making. Which means they have no NDA covering such a subject.

Not even ChatGPT can help him with this one.
