I turned off skirmishes but am put in "waiting for players" every game

As stated in the title. This is super annoying. I do not want to be put in those and prefer by far a bit longer waiting times. As I tap out of Overwatch during the waiting time the audio cues are the only hint I have to know when I am actually in a match. With “waiting for players” those cues dont work, because there is already game sound.

So you dont hear “Going to Oasis” or what ever map there is? and you dont hear the “30 seconds warning”, or the “Prepare to attack/defence” thingy?.. maybe you should get your ears checked?

"Going to Oasis” comes when joining the waiting for players, but not again, when the game starts. “30 seconds” is too little when I am on the defending team.
Your are behaving like a douche. Get your head out of your poophole.

The “waiting for players” is the exact lobby you’re going to play the match. It’s not a skirmish mode, it’s the server that gets ready when all slots are filled.

Technically speaking, you always get into “waiting for players” every game. However most matches are filled so fast that you won’t noticed that you were in “waiting for player”.

Hope that makes sense.

There is a bug at the moment that even at a full game you are still waiting for players. You wait for good 5-20 seconds even if the game is full for some reason and then the timer starts counting. This was reported almost a month ago and I don’t know if someone higher answer if this is a “feature” or a bug.

At least the server at EU is this way at the moment.

In addition there are times that the game kicks you miltiply times and rejoins you to another one, some times 2-3-4 times in a roll.

Is it possible that the game starts when each player has loaded the game? When you join a server, you are maked as joined before your game has been loaded. By that logic, the last player just joined and need to load the game first. Once the game for the last player is loaded, the game starts.

Sometimes, the lobby has extreme circumstances where finding another player is almost impossible. Instead of waiting 2-3 minutes, MM is cancelling the game in the hopes to find a better suited and full game.

Often the “waiting for players” goes on for a while with everybody in the game. I think you apear when you finished loading (correct me if I am wrong). Why is there no option to just put me into the game when there are sufficient players found. It can block a spot for every person who dont want to skirmish.
It actually has goten bad just a month/few weeks ago. Before it was no issue and happened rarely.
My Elo is very average, so I doubt it is extremly difficult to find a game for me during normal hours. Even if it is, I would prefer to just wait and not jump between skirmishes.

Ps: I know “waiting for players” is not seen as skirmish for everybody here, but that is what it actually is.

I turned them off as well, except turning them back on when playing with friends and they can’t sit on their hands. It’s good to have it on on places where you just want some action going on at the screen all the time like a computer multiple ppl plays on in rotation but for yourself it’s an utter waste of time. Can’t you just do something better with that 1-2 minutes of yours, just to join to a map where at the best moment when you about to make the kill it drops you out.

No, you appear before you finished loading. Specifically, you appear when you start loading and hear “welcome to this map”.

Without “waiting for players” you would be stuck in the loading screen until everyone has loaded. Since this would suck, blizzard chose to allow players who finished loading early to run around the map until the actual match starts.

I haven’t seen a thread quite this special for awhile
