Ilios feels poorly designed to me, and here's why

It’s nothing but open aerial space, with clustered garbage piled as high as the eye can see from ground level.

I find myself, even as one of the most capable hitscans, in most of my games hardcore struggling to deal with the constant headache of Pharmacy on two of the three maps in this set, and that’s because at least ruins has some long range run ups and is semi-sane.

On both Well and Lighthouse though, there is nothing but constant garbage and clustered nonsense practically guaranteeing cover for Pharah from every single angle and then some anytime she needs shelter from ground level. You pretty much have to guaranteed Widow headshot her dead and hope her body falls somewhere out in the open enough to also pick Mercy, or you are never going to beat a competent Pharmacy on this series.

And I know what you’re thinking. It’s not exactly like Pharah is getting more OP, maybe she should get at least one map right? Wrong. Some heroes can certainly be more suited for maps than others sure, but Pharah feels like such a guaranteed win on two of the three maps in this series it’s insane.

Am I alone in my feelings on this?

I like ilios. Is one of my fav map. I don’t know why. familiarity maybe

I don’t want to put an opinion on this, but whenever ilios comes up Pharah is always (and I mean always) on at least one team.

Its a fun Lucio map too.

As someone who likes to mc on Ilios this post confuses me

As an Orisa player Well/Lighthouse are my fave maps in the game. Environmental kills! My best moment in game to date was taking 4 off map on lighthouse then turning around to kill ulting McCree (why he was solo ulting me when rest of his team were dead in Comp I’ll never know lol…)

Oh no. Some maps favor different heroes. What shall we do now?

Some heroes shine more than other on specific maps though

You are a platinum widow. You should know that all that open air space is a pharahs playground, a pharah is easiest to hit when she has all that open space.

Hes actually not even plat. Hes low gold on road to silver.

I wanted to be kind, he still had the plat border. xD

To be honest, I don’t quite understand your criticism.

Maybe it would be clearer if you compare Ilios with another map you think is well designed. Try to point out aspects that were designed well and show how Ilios failed in that aspect.

:dragon:

As a long time Pharah enthusiast, I’m somewhat confused if you think that Ilios is significantly more easy to remain covered as Pharah. Sure, some maps are more convenient than others, but that is and should be the case for all kinds of heroes.

Route 66 is a horrible map to defend as Pharah for the same open space reason, but my first choice would not be to ask Blizzard to modify the map for more safe flight.
