You can go ahead and tell me “your just bad” but I really don’t care. When I play healer and have good heals and we lose then it’s the team. When I have 5 golds as Ana then it’s the team. I can’t climb as a solo cause the sr system is built around luck, luck that you get good teammates. At first I thought it was my fault, but then I played on my friends account who is diamond. Won 3 games in a row with 4 golds and got him to masters. Guess it’s time to retire, skilled players can’t get to where they should be because of bad teammates.
Solo queue is so much fun indeed. Been playing Pharah earlyer, i killed 3 people from the enemy team (both healers and 1 dps),called it out for my team to go on the point and guess what, they were just standing there and all of them were on voice. And when i asked how was it possible for them not to be able to kill 2 tanks and a dps and take the point they were like " you should’ve called it out". Told them i repeatedly called it out to go on the point , and yea my mic is working and 2 team mates heard me calling it out .So yeah the wonders of solo queuing when your team just throws the game, or they are unable to follow up simple things, not to mention the toxicity and everything else that comes along with it.
Random teams are trash on average. If you plan playing a lot of matches then try to retain some of your good team mates by grouping up. Just 1 good team mate can increase the chances of winning dramatically when he is in your group.
Use google to find out what “PBSR” is (below diamond). Because of PBSR climbing becomes very difficult if you are a nice guy and you flex. If you aren’t that nice and focus on your own performance then you are slowly climbing even with only 50% winrate or a little below.
If you use LFG you can easily play your favourite role without instalocking and the related toxicity. Even if you allow player to join your LFG group without further check (profile, etc…) your chances of getting a bad player aren’t worse then in solo queue and at least you get someone who wants to play the specified role. You can kick him in next match if you think he isn’t good enough.
ranked feels like a complete lottery and its high time it is fixed. Do away with the completely counter intuitive 50/50 win rate or call comp play what it is: RNG mode.
There is a distinct curve through the ranks, but it seems the ability of players within any rank varies wildly.
Yesterday i climb with tracer solo from 2700 to 2950
Gonna get to dia today on solo!
Started off in low gold, way back in S2. As of today I’m in GM. All of it by solo climbing. I would happily climb with friends but they’re not into comp.
So either I accomplished the impossible or you’re wrong. Which is it?
You might have played much more than most players who complain about climbing. For example: if someone plays a hundred hours per season then that’s good enough to account for the random screwups of matchmaking and still converge towards one’s real rank even with ineffective methods (like solo queue and flexing).
Some players happen to have a playstyle (often by accident) that makes climbing much easier/faster (like DPS instalock) even if they do it without actually knowing why it makes climbing easier.
There are probably some other factors too: I might not have enough competitive playtime to make an accurate statement but for me solo queue quality feels somewhat better in plat than in gold and silver.
However, after reading this thread he should know enough to be able to eliminate many random negative factors. If he doesn’t do that or can’t climb even after doing that then it’s his fault.
From the holy overwatch bible: if your teammates are bad ignore them. Don’t get frustrated but also don’t try to play with them, simply do what you are best at and hope that the enemy is similarly inept.
It’s a grindless grind. Just find a decent game where you can actually improve and climb the ladder.
Meaning go learn a 1v1 game and do not depend on strangers to do well. They wont.
I can’t agree that it’s “impossible” since last year I managed to climb from silver to plat in one season, but I will agree that comp just feels very unrewarding and for the amount of time and effort that goes in to it, the SR and what we get back feels kind of worthless.
I’ve always been a solo player for the most part. Every now and then I run in to some cool people and we form a group and do okay, but I just live in my own bubble. The things I expect as a Zarya main are probably too much for most people. I expect good posittioning, a team that understands what the word formation means (tanks on front line, everyone else except flankers behind us), call outs, ultimate combos, etc.
Most of OW players in silver-plat simply don’t care about these things and ultimately I ended up losing interest in trying to find that kind of team. I got bored of constantly ending with 2-3 golds as tank, when DPS should have gold for elims. I got bored of getting measly SR for what felt like 20-25 minutes of hard effort to win one simple game.
With LFG here, I might be tempted to try comp again, but I always ask myself, what for? What’s the point? I only really wanted a gold gun for Zarya and I got that ages ago so what’s the incentive now? For me, nothing.
don’t play team games then I guess?
Go for COD death match.
Ehh, my post needs checking coss I guess I used a naughty word or something.
Suffice to say, I’m not enjoying the game lately as they’ve destroyed my hero.
Just do placements and stop. You’ll get comp points still, possibly at a slower rate (it depends), but it’s guaranteed, and you’ll be less stressed.
Option 2 is get good at supports. One thing I’ve noticed flexing, is that tanks rely far too heavily on their team, and good luck picking DPS. As support, you don’t have to compete with others picking it, and as long as you are good at supporting the team, you can sort of just coast too victory. The team that dies less, wins more. It’s that simple.
Well, I only speak from my personal perspective, which is obviously that of a Mercy main. If you’re not interested in hearing a Mercy mains opinion then I really encourage you to stop reading this post.
The game is no longer fun for me. I can’t make the difference that I once could. I can’t save my idiot team mates when they screw up or over extend or fail to hit the broad side of a barn door. The enjoyment of playing a support is precisely because you’re supposed to have the power to save idiot team mates and give them the edge they need at the right time to be greater than their own skill normally allows. That is essentially what being a support in games is supposed to feel like. It’s fun for some people, and it’s why I’ve enjoyed playing support for countless years on games like WoW, Mobas, D&D, Borderlands, ect-ect-ect.
My impact upon a match has artificially been degraded to the level of being a bystander. I’m doing all the right things, staying alive, keeping my beam on the idiot that needs healing the most, and sure I am getting the most healing done in almost every match and yet still I fail. I fail because my healing output isn’t high enough to save idiots when they over extend or fail to hit the broad side of a barn door.
Mercys design is totally fudged. Like, literally, undeniably, screwed in the ear. It’s not even a matter of opinion, I can explain the design flaws for anyone who can’t see it for themselves, and they’re undeniable. It simply is fundamentally broken and needs a rework. Blizzards silence on this is looking like contempt for players like myself.
So ya, not fun at all, and I pretty much identified this right away when this latest nerf came into effect. Crippling Mercys healing output was not a valid way to balance the kit around the presence of res. It’s fudged her up and Blizz should get off their butts, go back to the drawing board and fix this mess.
holy jesus f-ck, stop complaining already. If the game isnt fun to you anymore, JUST LEAVE and be with it. No need to let us know. Go away in silence, noone cares!
Solo queue has always been a lottery. Think it the other way around … do you think that bad people always win because they get good team mates?
It doesnt matter how decent and sometimes good your team mates are, when you get a dude that is doing zero, literally just feeding and not doing the job properly … your chances of losing are brutally high.
Everyone faces that challenge in solo queue, you cant blame always your team. Sure 5/6 times your team will be “responsible” of the defeat but i can assure you that 1/6 of the times its you. At LEAST 1/6 times.
No one cares what are you shouting! Why leave and let the bad people win instead of staying and fighting convincing the devs to fix the game!?
Cos the game is not the devs, nor the publishers, the hackers, and the smurfs. The game is the entire player base who wants to play a fair and good game.
While i do feel the matchmaking and reward/punishment systems need to be worked at. I however do not think its that bad anymore.
I play on console and also got frustrated by alot of leavers and trolls, so i figured i’d tried another another free game instead. This made me realize that people are not that bad as they could be in overwatch. It could be much much muuuuuuuuuuuuch worse lol
