Improve SR with Tracer?

Hey I’m kinda new here.

But I’m determined to rank up with Tracer for some reason. I’ve been playing for a few months and originally placed at ±1350 and its just gradually dropped to 1100. I just finished my 5 placements in Role Queue beta winning 4/5 games and got placed at 950. (I do sometimes change if i need to – i dont force to always play her)

Am I genuinely this bad? What are things I should be taking note of? As far as I know I flank pretty well and target supports etc. Usually get a bronze medal for Elims (should i always be getting gold?). My accuracy average is 28% – does this affect it?

I’m a bit stumped that I’m below 1000SR for someone who actually watches a fair amount of coaching videos etc.

I did have an atrocious first x10 placements when i started a few months ago – i didn’t really know anything about the game and was just bouncing between heroes and dying all the time, so i thought that was why i placed at 1300. But i learned quickly how the actual game works but i’m just like…slowly dipping more and more

Anyway please let me know if you have any tips/experience with Tracer. My profile is public - please have a look at the stats also.

Tracer is in a pretty bad place right now. Basically all heroes that have some random stuff around the map that can kill you has been buffed. Playing Tracer sometimes feels like flipping a coin.

no,be in there backline if u can,be annoying make them turn around wasting their time and abilitys,u dont need to kill them,u dont need to go for the healers all the time, shot the tanks get ur ult.

yes u need to fix this, what is ur sens/DPI? ur critacc is ok.

dont get greedy/die,be patient think like a hunter im not joking,
let them use there abilitys “sleep, hook, stuns, healing abilitys” wait for them to
make mistakes,if u get 1 kill then u have done ur job,but DONT GET GREEDY/DIE.

PS just so u dont think im talking out off my ass
i have not played this season on this account :flushed: but
im a Tracer 1trick 3600,i think Overbuff still has my old rank.

This is great advice! I’m still figuring out my sensitivity + DPI – what would you recommend? My mouse settings can go 600 / 1200 / 1600 / 3200

Oh lol also just to note I have 230ms latency like all the time – nothing I can do about that because of where I am :disappointed_relieved:

You can also check your stats using overbuff or any simmilar site that calculates them for players and compare your stats with players form upper ranks - you will see the difference and where you need to improve and what holds you in a lower rank.
Its also good to watch some videos of better tracer players to get a bit more knowledge on a game sense - that will influence the stats as well.
Good luck!

sens and DPI is very personal
You have to try and find something that is constantly usable and comfortable in that order
usable nr1
comfortably nr2,

old school DPI players like myself use 400 DPI
more used today is 800 and some use 1600,

and sens in OW
in the normal
ranges from 7 to 10 with 400 DPI,
and this sensitivity
then becomes 3.50
to 5 with 800 DPI,

but this is just a basis if you think 800 DPI and 10 sens works for you then you use it,

I think you should “with your chosen DPI”
set up a high sensitivity and go down gradually until you find something that is useful and comfortable then fine tune it from there.

PS if you haven’t done so, turn off enhance pointer precision in Windows,
go to (mouse setting) then (additional mouse options) then u will get to
(pointer options)
u will then see a small box thats says (enhance pointer precision)
turn that off.

for less lag (PING/MS)
If you have others in your home then ask them “when you want to play Overwatch” to not play online games, download music/movies/streming,
try to connect your PC directly to the router via cable then turn reduce buffering on in game and then try to make your PC work as little as possible,
for more FPS set all graphics to low or off, except for the shadows you can have on low
so you can see if there is a pharah or a genji over your head that you did not see or hear.

400/12 or 800/6 is common for tracer, that would be 600/9 for your mouse. Various sources say Dafran uses 400/12.
Can you do this: empty clip on enemy, blink to opposite side, turn 180, empty next clip on same enemy? Should be able to do this comfortably without lifting mouse to get back on the mousepad!

AFAIK Tracer’s gun is hitscan, so you don’t have to compensate for lag with your aim. It’s determined locally on your PC if it hits. If it hits on your screen – it hits! But it does impact close range fighting - check the kill feed when you die. If you ran behind a corner and think the enemy didn’t see you go there, but on the kill feed the enemy is right on your heels, then lag played a role in your death.

Sombra is just a better version of tracer.

Sombra and many more heros to date are better doing the DPS work
then Tracer, but none off them are as fun and reward feeling
in my opinion,
I actually think if it hadn’t been for Tracer then I wouldn’t have played OW anymore.

Lmao they have totally different purposes. Tracer is way more mobile and does a max 240dmg per clip whereas Sombra only does 160 max. Pulse bomb is also max 350dmg. Sombra’s EMP is highly effective but theres no point in comparing them

numbers don’t matter if they aren’t effective

EMP has a much greater carry potential then Tracer pulse bomb ever going to have sadly,
unless you make combos.

I just think its dumb to say Sombra is a “better Tracer”. One might be more effective in some areas but they’re still very different. And mostly- i dont like playing Sombra and this post is about Tracer so :tipping_hand_man:t3::man_shrugging:t3:

Also like EMP and pulse bomb are totally different abilities anyway ??

i get that,
I am just so used to responding to OW forum topics, you always get someone who wants to talk about something that is not related to the main topic.
