Internet dies and I get punished in Comp for it

The title is pretty much self explanatory.
However, I really need to dive into this because it happened dozens of times and I really can’t afford to be bothered with this punishment from OW.

I play Temple of Anubis, and I defend. My team gets pushed to 2nd point and we’re doing a really great job at defending. In the last minute I see the red warning on top left of my screen that I’m losing connection.
I get disconnected and overwatch can’t connect back to the game servers. I check my network connections and they’re all fine.
OW finally connects back to my account and I cannot rejoin and also I am being suspended.

Very serious questions which waits for a serious answer: who and why inside Overwatch dev team thought that if a player loses his/her connection to the game should get punished?
I understand that I have to pay the price IF I >>choose<< to disconnect. That’s completely normal. But if my internet dies why should I be punished? Does Blizzard expect me to call my internet provider and suggest them to give a better internet so I can’t miss my OW comp games?

I expect and understand if some of you might say that some players might abuse this in order to avoid playing a game (like simply removing your internet cable from your pc and you avoid getting suspended from comp). However, I’m pretty sure Blizzard devs can find a way to differentiate how a player lost connection(like timing out VS a plain dead connection). Other competitive games can do this and why shouldn’t Overwatch do it too?

As I said in the beginning, I’m so tired of it. I got probably more than 7 account suspensions just because of this dumb punishment, in less than 3 played seasons.
This topic might sound as a rant but for me it’s just a complaint. I can’t afford to struggle to get every time +20 SR back because OW decides to temporarily ban me from playing comp.

Please find a solution for this.
Cheers.

Because all leavers are treated the same.

Lightly at first, then much harsher if it is a repeating occurrence.

If they could differentiate, they would. But as you have acknowledged, as soon as players work out which one isn’t punished they will abuse it (cheaters have even worked out how to crash games when they are losing).

You say it is your internet “dying”, and 7 suspensions in 3 seasons suggests this a repeat thing. The punishments are to nudge you away from ranked where you will be repeatedly ruining games for others.

It may feel harsh, but it is the same for everyone.

This is not explaining anything. You’re simply throwing some words out that most probably some other people fed you.

So what’s the conclusion of this paragraph, really?
Since when us, the players should be concerned cheaters can crash the server? Isn’t that Blizzard’s responsibility to prevent cheaters from breaking the game? We can only inform the devs about what’s happening wrong.

…???
This time I have to say you are probably acting as some employee from customer support who only reads some quotes when your customers are asking for an explanation for your bad service you’re providing them.

You say it is your internet “dying”

I say? I just say for the sake of finding some excuses? Or what is this? Do hundreds or thousands of players including me need to record their matches and provide you some proof showing what’s happening?

Either way, if Blizzard really have wanted to nudge me away from the ranked games they can just make a season ban, if that’s how you believe it works. I consider the punishment as a warning sign and it’s my duty to acknowledge it. But, once again, how is my internet provider going to acknowledge this issue? Do you believe server maintenance is so easy for both Blizzard and our internet providers? I don’t think so.

It may feel harsh, but it is the same for everyone.

It’s not harsh, it’s miscalculated.

I appreciate that you bothered to look into this topic but please don’t answer it if all you’re looking for is to increase your post count that will probably also don’t give any kind of insight into the actual problem.

They treat all leavers the same, because all leavers have the same impact. They ruin the match for others.

So if you leave, be it deliberately or because your internet died. It is all the same. You are punished for ruining the match experience of 11 others.

I don’t need to add more insight. There is a thousand other posts where it is all explained.

If your internet is dying repeatedly, then maybe fix that before playing ranked.
