Is it bannable to leave QP?

Ok thats a weird one.
My LFG 6 stack said they were going to report me after I left a quick play game.
I didn’t really left to piss them off, I just felt like the warm up was enough I was ready for comp so I went for it.

Just now I got the “multiple reprots for inactivity / game sabotage” warning
and I’m terrified because I know that means immediate death to your acc inasmuch blzard bans people automatically and refuse to reverse it even if they are clean.

No, it is not.

In QP, you only endure the penalty. To be banned in QP, you have to be rude, insulting, or similar offenses. Or of course be AFK with some auto play cheat system. But leaving, nope, you can’t be banned for that.

You only get banned for leaving in QP if you get reported for gameplay sabotage.

Other than that, if you leave over 10 out of your last 20 matches, you’ll recieve a XP penalty.

Well directly or indirectly we found out that you do:

so I gues make your own conclusions.

Taking something out of context doesn’t work if the context is right above your comment.

To be fair, they were asking a yes or no question and the OTP realized that you only get banned in an indirect way.

True, the quote of me might be out of context but I think they know what I meant.

I suppose but still with what he said he doesn’t seem to understand the difference between getting banned due to leaving or getting banned due to gameplay sabotage. At least that’s the impression that I get from that.

I thought that on first glance, too but when reading it again…

I noticed that they realized it.

They basically know the following:

Can you get banned directly? No.
Can you get banned indirectly? Yes.

What they asked was this:

Can you get banned directly or indirectly?

And since one of the 2 two possibilities is true, the question can be answered with yes. It can be taken out of context though because, as you mentioned indirectly, you could read it as if you could get banned both directly and indirectly.

After all, one single word can change the entire meaning of a sentence.

You can leave ∞ games of QP and you’ll be ok.
But if people report you’r leaving for gameplay sabotage you might get punished.
And i think i’ll start reporting for that soon. Can’t stand leavers.

Ah yes, rereading clears that up.

Though question in the title asks if being leaving can lead to a ban. Which is why only the later reply actually clears it up.

But then QP is full of

1 vs 6 dive fools
1 tricks
no tank no healer
Parties who don’t heal people outside of their party
etc

Leaving in an essential part of QP.

Still it can be gameplay sabutag-ing.
Especially on off-hours when theres no one to get punished by the back fill system.
And even if theres someone to fill, the team will have an ult disadvantage.

Wicked already explained why it is still a reportable offense.

Besides, this is only theoretically speaking. Practically speaking, almost nobody will report you for leaving QP because it will be filled anyways and thus QP is more chill regarding leavers.

I feel like throwing up when people tell me it’s ethical or rational to reprot someone in quickplay. I would avoid getting into that except you give me a good reason to do such thing.

F.outtaheredude.

  1. You sound hostile, I don’t like hostile.
  2. Obviously, the sentece was split quoted to complete mine not to take it out of context.
  3. And one last thing always keep it in your mind “blzrd doesn’t care about context”.

Oof, that hit you hard. However, Artrophy wasn’t offensive or destructive. Yes, they often sound harsh because they tell you the message as direct as possible. Sometimes, it sounds rude but not this case. The, basically said "you took things out of context, even though the thing is right above you.

To be honest, it wasn’t obvious. You also kinda gave my quote another meaning because of the context of your previous sentence.

Phrasing is rather difficult. You can mess up easily and cause misunderstandings - I speak from experience. If that happens, try to clear up the misunderstanding but please don’t be offensive. Telling someone to…

Because then, you are the actual hostile person in the discussion.

Same counts to you, artrophy.

Now kids, let daddy sleep, ok? :joy:

Change your username, thank me later

Actions are not bannable, they are reportable. If you get enough reports - you get banned. Some actions are not reportable. But if you get reported enough times for doing those actions, you’re still going to be banned. So, simple answer is … everything you do is bannable if enough people report you.

Shame there isn’t a system for replacing useless team mates.

It is only game sabotage if you do it on purpose and most times the other players won’t know why you did it, so they are speculating when they report you for it.

Theory and practice always contradict eachother in terms of reports in Overwatch.

In theory, leaving QP is a form of throwing which is a violation of the CoC. In Practice, almost nobody cares because the empty slot will get filled before you can think of why the player left the game.

Fatdrake you’re a smart dude you’re posts are always legit.
So ye if he didn’t mean to be hostile he just made a dumb post I take it back, but you know how it looks, like he is trying to make me look dumb instead:

I disagree with this

“Family friendly” and hostility are 2 different things.

and with this:

for it to not be obvious you have assume that the author of the text is a monkey or severely dyslexic.
