Is it just me or are the map votes, not actual votes

A vote is: A formal indication of a choice between two or more candidates or courses of action, expressed typically through a ballot or a show of hands, the majority vote is then chosen.

Overwatch 2 map vote: People can pick what they want but it doesn’t really matter because even if everyone voted Kings Row but Keith thought it would be funny to pick Suravasa, we are now all playing Suravasa.

Obviously that’s a dramatic description but it is effectively what happens. I think it should be the first definition…not the second.

I hear you cry: “if we make the Map Vote majority vote then we will only be playing the same maps over and over again.”

Never fear random stranger on the internet: I have a positive of this.

Over time, the Devs can gather data of what maps aren’t being picked and then they can try and see why. Then they know what maps to update and change. Then the maps we may not like now, will be maps we may love in the future.

Another point to add is that overtime, everyone will get bored of the same maps. So gradually the herd of players will switch to other maps as they get bored with ones they play every other game.

What do you guys think. Would love to hear.

No, they aren’t votes.

They’re chips on to a table. The more people who put their chip on something, the bigger chance they have of winning.

I just don’t bother voting. Unless a map has zero votes right at the end. Then I’ll drop a vote on it just for fun.

That’s a good way of putting it. I guess calling it ‘vote’ is misleading on Overwatchs part
