There are arguments to be made, and very valid ones, that the dev team has focused on the wrong areas, made the wrong changes, and allowed power creep to infest the game.
Many games have a 1-2 year life before needing either a sequel or an expansion. At this point, 3 years into Overwatch, can it not be said that perhaps the game is just old, and we’re tired of playing it? If that is the case, a lot of hate and anger towards the game might actually just be a matter of it being stale.
I stopped playing for about a month just to give myself a break from it. I was getting really toxic, 95% of my games where just frustrating and unfun. I blamed bad hero design (which is a valid point to be made).
I just logged in for the first time this morning, played one game and realized that it just wasn’t fun, at all. There was nothing new, just the same old maps, same old modes… It’s just lacking anything that feels new and exciting.
Maybe the game isn’t bad, rather, it’s just old and people need something new to bring them back.

Option 3: Neither of the first two
I still greatly enjoy the game.

You do realize that I’m not speaking for myself here? The game is on a steady decline, as many many players are leaving. That’s not really an opinion, it’s an actual fact.
I’m glad that you still enjoy it, I wish I was there as well.

Fact: Some players are leaving. You have no numbers or figures to provide, so it is nothing but guess work.
Another fact: There are more than enough staying and still enjoying the game. Me being one of them.
Another fact: I am waiting on average between 15 and 20 seconds to find a match which clearly shows a healthy community
Another fact: Whether or not a game is fun is different for each person.
Yet another fact: Option 3 is valid.

I still enjoy it… but I do think it’s a bit tired. I thought maybe the new maps would add something, but I hate playing Busan. I honestly think it’s one of the worst maps of the whole game.

It’s not bad–that’s not to say it isn’t without flaws.
But it is old hat.
The game has remained largely the same since launch, despite the small additions of some new arcade modes and the plethora of options in custom games.
It’s a bit like the whole SLI/Crossfire thing with gaming. Blizzard have opened up Custom Games and unlocked SO MUCH STUFF for players… but the players themselves have to get creative. In the same way the game developers have to code for multi-GPU set-ups–the kind that less than 1% of PC gamers have.
Overwatch is a quick-to-play game. Queue times are short. There are no talents to fiddle with. No gear to grind. OW players aren’t (on the whole) the kind of players to create stuff–at least not whilst playing OW. They want to shoot things.
So the only way things will feel fresh is if Blizzard add new modes, rather than relying on gamers to do it.
So yeah… Overwatch is old hat. The developers are the only ones that can add fresh modes (that will get played and appreciated by the masses).
Then again, McCree wears an old hat (by the look of it) and McCree is cool as hell!)

i play the game …but certainly not enjoying it , most times at least … specially when playing against torb-orisa-symmetra-brigite
I agree that this game is tired. When I first joined (2 years ago), there was a lot more enthusiasm and sense of fun from other players and now there is a general lack of communication, teamwork and caring. I feel like most quick play games I’ve played recently are won not by skill, but mostly because your team is slightly less terrible than the other. Don’t get me wrong, there are some players out there who are fun to play with, but it seems like they are becoming fewer and far between. Apologies to anyone who still find enjoyment in this game, my aim is not to piss in your cornflakes, this is a forum, and I am sharing my opinion.

@Blackbeard - no trolling… but why play something you don’t like?

CS1.6 is 15 years old. Still alive and kicking.

Yeah rest of the dead 1 million multiplayer games are kicking in their graves too. And ow 15$ at sale shows how it is doing these days. Probably 9$ next year, struggling to stay alive.
I need to question why you do something you don’t enjoy then. Just stop playing. It’s only a game after all.
Someone has not played CS 1.6 in at lest 2 years.
