Is playing support and not using the heal ability all game allowed

Came back after a break and seen 4 dif people do this in my last 4 games so is this just accepted

It’s a side effect of role queue. DPS queue is long, so DPS mains queue for other roles with shorter queues where they don’t fullfill the actual role. Playing a hero deliberately ineffectual is throwing and a bannable offense, although one that is hard to prove. Given that reports don’t seem to work anymore though, there might be little to nothing you can actually do.

I’m always sceptical about these kinds of complaints because I play a lot of support and have lost count of the number of times that people have accused me of not healing while I’m doing nothing but healing. A lot of people don’t have the game awareness to know when they’re being healed or what other factors are contributing to deaths or healing difficulties.

no, healing is not mandatory.
DPS players polluting other queues is one of expected and predicted consqeuences from the rq, blizzard shoved down our throats regardless.

if you are playing as a healer and never heals in the game your in then this is throwing"illegal",
its the same as wanted to use a car but driving in the bicycle lane, yes you can do it but it’s not what the car or the lane is designed for and is illegal,if u want to drive a car"healers" then u should drive on the road designed for the car.

you’re absolutely right.

But imagine one third of all free-, highways and other roads would be replaced with bike lanes and another third with pedestrian stripes for some reason.
People would still drive cars on them even illegally, simply because there are more cars than there are bikes on (big city) streets and moving all of them solely across designated driveways would be basically an impossible thing to do.

Thats exactly what blizzard tried with the role queue, implementing 2-2-2 with huge majority of the playerbase being obviously mainly DPS, those want to play the game even if they have to find into a match via other queues.

Feel free to report those players for wrongdoing but don’t hold your breath, the issue is systemic and blizzard would have to purge tons of DPS accounts and curtail their playerbase very significantly - bad press about it would be hilarious to read.

rq also removed tons of tank players from the game like me, who used to flex into tanks where they see it fit, but who aren’t willing to commit into it for the entire duration of the match.

If you aren’t getting healed it’s usually your own fault.

The problem isn’t role queue itself, it’s the lack of SR reset. A DPS-Hog is much much worse than a proper tank, but depending on the player, it will still be adequat at some level of SR. Right now it takes forever to reach that level though.

The road analogy is a bit faulty because before role queue, everyone sort of agreed that 2-2-2 is the comp that was the most fun. I’ve never heard anyone say to swap so we get 1-1-4 instead. It’s not just the strongest distribution overall, it’s also sensible - one tank alone wouldn’t cut it, because it would have to be a shield tank, leaving 4 heroes completely off the table. One support alone wouldn’t be enough, because supports can barely heal themselves and they fullfill so many different aspects of the game, one alone can’t do it. Or do you know a support that has a saving ult and heals enough to sustain 5 others? Yet without defensive ults, offensive ults become a “press Q to win fight” situation which is utterly boring.

bullet itself isn’t the problem, it’s the loss of blood which ensues, right?

SR sorts itself out over time, I can’t see how its an issue.

it all depends on many factors. I won plenty of matches which were far from 2-2-2. But from this point aside, introducing 2-2-2 to game which is dominated by DPS role is very harmful to its players and the game itself, due to the reason TS described for example.

You aren’t a huge majority

DPS going onto other roles and throwing because yes it’s throwing to not fulfil your role properly is a bannable offence and one Blizzard said they’d be looking out for.

They don’t have to curtail their playerbase significantly, or even slightly.

I laugh at your “I’m a tank but i’d flex into it” meaning you’re a DPS who’d play tank like a DPS and just made the issue worse, 222 was a good move if it means less players like you
