Just curious as to what people think about his ulti.
I know reaper isn’t too popular right now, but gimmie your 2 cents
Way i see it is following:
His ult is very strong against squishies that you can attack by suprise, but not really useful against tanks. However his autoattack is great way to deal these tanks before ult.
Its not a best ult but atleast it is 100% play of the game in low ranks (bronze-plat). Maybe let it ignore armor or give it a little longer duration or range.
Problem with reapers ultimate is the fact that it leaves you super vulnerable and there are so many counters and ways to deal with it. like defence matrix/easy instakill for snipers since you cant move/shields/stuns etc etc etc. just as an example: you cant ult an enemy reaper if they have over half of their HP since they will just shoot you in the face 2 times and kill you. Its so easy to deal with you dont really even want to spend a defencive ult for it (like transendence) since if the enemy team is running a 2-2-2 comp the other DPS ult is probably much scarier. (For example genji blade)
You can get a lot of value out of it by guaranteeing important kills (for example solo ulting a support can be worth just to make sure they die and also the tilt factor can never be ignored.
All of this is obviously on top of the fact that reaper in general is kind of in a bad situation now since its pretty easy for any hero with even a little bit of range can just delete him and since he has bacicly no good ways to engage into fights he just gets shut down easily. if he wraith forms in he cant get out and teleport is just too easy to punish.
And on top of all that reaper does quite low damage against armor.
Im sorry i havent slept in like 20 hours so hopefully this makes a bit of sense even with my typing. But TL;DR its too easy to counter to be that valuable in higher ranks.
Yeah i agree. You need to track so many things before you can ult as reaper like: does d.va have a mech, how much hp Rein shield has, does Enemy have rally armor, how are enemies with stuns positioned or do they have stun on CD… and much more
His ult has a lot of potential, but it requires some setup and very good timing or you get shut down completely. It’s feast or famine, pretty much.
First of all, you need it to be a surprise. If anyone sees you trying to set it up, it’s very obvious that’s what your doing. You have to come in from a flank where they don’t see you until at most a second before you pull the trigger, and that means you have to get from hiding to a spot in between atleast three opponents in less than a second.
You also need to make sure you end up between any barriers and the majority of the team. So smack in the middle of their midline. Ideally barriers will have been broken or on cooldown just before.
And you really, REALLY, need to make sure that your team has baited any defense matrix a Dva may have. This is the biggest shutdown outside of support ults in the game. Flashbangs, hooks, shield bashes etc can shut you down completely, but defense matrix has a HUGE range and doesn’t require aim.
If they pop a support ult you will die, but it’s usually an excellent trade.
So if you can get into a good position, communicate with your team so you know when to go and they can bait barriers and DM, and drop between barriers and the rest, you will end the fight. In any other situation you will have been away from the fight (forcing a 5v6) and die without a single kill, turning it into a 4v6.
Like everything else, its power is situational 
In general though, if they have a Dva you’re probably better off not playing Reaper in the first place
