Is there a way to re-calculate overwatch sensitivities after changing DPI i.e. using a new mouse?

Just got a Deathadder mouse and decided to place it at 1600 DPI. My last mouse was at 500 DPI, so this obviously makes it difficult when adjusting all my sensitivities within OW. Is there an easy way to do this?

Why change the sense if you were happy with the old one?

Mouse DPI has changed (as per the text)

Thanks for the suggestion, though I tried a website like this and it gave the same sensitivity as your one. The sensitivity it suggested felt much lower than what I was used to, so I’ve had to manually adjust them instead.

But is it him or the mouse that decided to raise the dpi?.. If its him (as I read it) then why change it… If its the mouse, is it possible to change it down to 500?

try it via the eDPI?

example calculation:

mouse dpi x ingame sensitivity = eDPI

last mouse: 500 DPI

now lets see your InGame sensitivity… perhaps you play Genji with 10 sensitivity Ingame

so:

10 x 500 = 5000 eDPI for Genji

now calculate on new mouse:

new mouse: 1600 DPI

→ 5000 : 1600 = 3,1 new Ingame sensitivity for Genji

does this work for you?

( are my explanations understandable? )

This method gives me the same result as well. When I do those calculations, I always end up with a sensitivity of 2.3. However, with manual adjusting, 4.0 feels a lot more natural. Idk what happens.

He said he bought a new mouse.

So adjusting settings on both will always happen.

What feels natural is always better than what an algorithm says.

maybe it is then appropriate to fundamentally recalibrate yourself and your sense with the psa method:

(it is advisable to do it anyway)

handy tool for that:

Yeh you are going to have to recalibrate. Specially because DPI is not the only factor to calculate this, polling rate and overal responsiveness of the optics have a huge impact.

If your prev mouse was more “sketchy” or low Quality, it probably had pixel skipping, so you probably had like a 20-30% sens margin of skipped distances.

If it says 2.3 but 4.0 is closer, use 0.2 increments. You will probably still have different sens for some heroes (fast 180s with Genji, Tracer, Doomfist) and different zoom sens with Ashe, Widow and Ana.

well i have gone through atleast 4 mouse in my lifetime playing overwatch and what i can suggest is that to play with you new mouse and experiment with different dpi . as i had to choose a different dpi each time i changed the mouse .

I just adjust the sensitivity in-game. :man_shrugging:

I have a razor naga so I can change it also by pressing mouse buttons at the top.

I am guessing you play wow or mmorpg too :relaxed:

Good guess  Although the naga side buttons can be a bit of a nightmare due to not working at times.

yes that can very much happen . my previous naga had a problem with 4 digit button and i had to press it sometimes to make it to work .
i am planning on resubscribing to wow hopefully on 12 march . i had skipped shadowlands but with 50 percent off i have bought the expansion

Yeah it’s a major annoyance as it ruins the rotation in WoW and decreases DPS.

Me and a friend quit as Shadowlands is just too much. Worst expansion in our opinion so we’re waiting for improvements.
