We have all heard of visor by now. and my question is, is this considered cheating and there for banable? because it helps you get better and does nothing for you.
Surely this statement is completely contradictory. Would helping you, not be doing something for you?
Personally i think it’s cheating, its aim is to give you a competitive advantage, i know technically it doesnt, but from what im aware software that runs over, with, Overwatch will generally get you banned
what is visor? I’ve never heard of it.
Like a HUD that keeps track of when enemy ultimates are coming online and warns you. Probably does other stuff too but i got bored at that point.
That certainly sounds like cheating. Theres a massive warning when an ult is launched already. I’ve been playing for a few weeks and worked tht out already. If you can’t work wth what the game gives you, then just don’t play rather than trying to give yourself an unfair edge from outside sources.
Its cheating its giving you information which gives you an advantage yes players can track this them self to this does’t mean its not cheating, heck by this logic you could say wall hack is not cheating cos you can hear footsteps by sound.
They need to ban visor app before it does any damage, there plenty that gonna keep asking this question over and over even tho common sense says it is, and more and more players will use it, those players wont be able to maintain there ranks without it, heck the whole goal of visor is to coach you but its doing anything but that its just doing the thinking proces for you.
There is no correct answer to this other than “If Blizz says it is cheating, it is cheating”.
I recall d2 maphacks which were ongoing for years before they got banned.
Its all up to blizzard yeah.
Ofc its cheating!.. Most stupid question ever!
Visor is meant for silvers to go to gold.
I like the idea but its actually laughable how bad the program is xD
We absolutely needed a 7th topic about this. The previous ones with the identical topic and discussion weren’t enough.
I heard of it yesterday, never seen it though. Apparently it’s supposed to be a coaching system that uses computer vision to keep track of what’s going on in the game, and machine learning to tell you what you should be doing at any point in order to improve.
It’s likely to be against the terms of use, but it’s not clear. Don’t use it until you know for sure.
I mean its too powerful to even be an ultimate…
What? I haven’t. First “Smurf” and now this crap.
A 3rd party software that analyzes the game from your screen and pops ups hints including enemy ultimate charged - an obvious cheat starting from the 3rd party software which directly interfaces with the game play.
The fact this kind of coaching software was designed shows a desire to have something like this in the base game, and considering the overwatch world has an under utilised AI character (Athena) it seems like there is an opportunity here.
This AI coach could:
- Advice at a team level (too scattered, not playing the objective, etc)
- Advice at a player level (not performing, focusing wrong heroes, etc)
- Advise on high priority targets on the enemy team (hard carry, etc)
Ultimately a good player knows most of this stuff already, and therefore wouldn’t be used by many, but for those who need it to learn, it could be a good step in the right direction.
Of course tracking enemy ULT charge is something is should NOT be doing.
psssst, Jeff, hire me
I just had a look at a streamer testing it, and I really wouldn’t call it ult tracking. For example, it appears to tell if an ult is used from the killfeed. If it doesn’t get kills, it doesn’t show up there. And it appears to do the “tracking” based primarily on how much time a hero takes on average to build their ult.
I must say, the advice seems to be extremely basic (but generally good) and may be of use for someone struggling to get to gold. Of course, it may be different if used in an actual comp environment and for a longer period of time, but in this streamers quickplays, where he flexed a lot, it didn’t seem to provide much use at all.
Edit: it’s just doing screen scraping. No audio queues, and definitely no memory reading.
But not while in game… The advice/stats should come AFTER the match…
Yes, its cheating, its a third party program that gives an unfair advantage, according to the game, so yes.
I know it was meant in a different way, but just as differently it actually does something for ME! That it exists more or less proves the existence of aimbots and that I am stripping naked for Warden for nothing.
Software interacting with the game outside an (for Overwatch non-existant) API is clearly cheating in my book. It doesn’t matter how small or even pitiful an advantage may be. We’re talking about a game here where you can’t even customize or even set up party frames because it obviously isn’t the developers intention to make any Information available outside the way it is actually presented.
Don’t care about that Visor Thing, but Blizzard just lost a whole lot of credibility. They really don’t seem to care much anymore about keeping their games clean.
