I don’t mind filling in for leavers in game. In fact I particularly enjoy joining and turning a losing match around. But here’s the issue. Filling in the last few seconds of the match. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve filled when there’s 10 seconds left on the clock or the “Defeat” screen shows up when I join and that’s frustrating because i don’t even get a chance to play before receiving the loss. Thoughts on this?
We’ve all experience this, some people have complained about it (myself included) but the devs never commented on it so I guess it’s working as intended.
The bright side is that you get like 600xp for 10sec.
Well, it’s not that bad. First up, you don’t get a loss, because win rate isn’t a stat anymore (and even back when it was, backfill losses never counted). In addition, after that loss you’re queueing for the next match at the same time as 11 over people, giving you a very good chance at a full game.
Also, look at it this way: the game can’t know whether a match can be turned around or not. Say you’re defending point B in Anubis, the opponent is at 95% when you join with 6min left. Your team’s D.Va drops the bomb of a life time and they get wiped. Without the bomb, it’s a 10sec till “defeat” scenario, with it there’s still at least a solid shot and a fun game in all of it. If the slot doesn’t get filled, that’s a potential of 6min at 6v5 which would be annoying first and foremost. If it does get filled, it’s a potential defeat screen without getting to pick a hero. Gotta decide which one is preferable.
True true. But the feeling of seeing a loss you couldn’t avoid really just gets your mood down and can tilt you to no end.
