Just remove chat

I got a warning for abusive chat for basically stating that DPS in our team were carried. I was tanking with silver damage.

I would say this was a factual statement in a discussion about how to improve our performance.

I have just left all chats now. This is getting ridiculous.

A warning actually requires multiple amounts of reports, of course depending on severity.

Knowing this there is a chance it’s most likely related to something else too.

Also hold in mind that the players in your team can take offense to that. Even when it’s not a fact, it can still be offensive to users which is against the In-Game Code of Conduct.

Your arrogant assumption that “it’s most likely related to something else too” makes you look, well, arrogant.

No he is right… You wont get a warning for 1 or 2 reports… More likely you already have over a hundred before you get a warning

But i agree: remove the chat makes the game more enjoyable and way less toxic  im glad you can turn it off

It’s not an assumption, i’ve been through the process myself and i’ve had plenty of contact with Customer Support.

Reading multiple threads where Customer Support have responded and closed threads also points to attention that this is the case.

It’s not trying to be arrogant, i’m trying to pass over the knowledge i have to you. I mean, you could have been more formal in your reply. Though you instantly go to the motive that i’m arrogant, which practically can show to other users why you actually have recieved a warning. Because labeling people something for sharing their knowledge after having more time in something than you is just plain rude.

Still again, saying your DPS got carried can still be offensive to them since you’re literally belitteling their skill. By this you’ve offended them, which they’re allowed to report. If they decide to do so and CS deems it as a violation of the Code of Conduct then you practically have violated your End User License Agreement meaning they reserve all the rights to revoke your Overwatch license.

Though knowing CS doesn’t act directly with bans it’s good that it gives you a chance to reflect, this warning wasn’t given for no reason.

People report you also if you are not responding

So yes, you’ve got multiple reports

I’m kinda disappointed that Blizzard is trying to emulate the legal code of the socialist hell of the Soviet Union, where you can’t win no matter what you do. If they can ban you from the game for no reason at all then I might as well ask for a refund.

I find this hard to believe, as they wouldn’t give an option to block chat then.

Well, it is a team game and they say that you need to communicate.

Fact remains: you won’t get a warning for 1 or 2 reports… You need at least 50 or 100 or so and 200 if im correct to get banned

That is not correct unless there were at least 94 observers in that game, all reporting. Not likely at all.

it isn’t about 1 game… its about a lot of games where you have been reported

It can’t be. I have hardly played with chat function enabled in the last month or so.

You seem very certain about something you know very little about.

well, then you don’t believe me XD, but that is just how it works "not being in chat can be reported " and the fact that you wont get a warning for 1 or 2 reports :joy:

Apparently I did get a warning for 1 or 2 reports so you are wrong again.

Do you have an official source where Blizzard states that you can’t get a warning for 1 or 2 reports?

I am genuinely interested.

Ah, the classical right-wing approach. Make up things and whine. Dude, you’re toxic here, you’re likely toxic in chat. It is a well-known truth that reports only come into effect when you’ve gathered a large amount - to an extent where the odd fals report here and there simply doesn’t matter. I’m always open, I always critize in chat when things need to be adressed, I don’t hold back when people spout BS, yet I’ve never received a warning.

The only option where you might get punished or warned even with just a few reports are extreme cases, like with excessive usage of slurs or threats, etc. But that would also require direct action by Blizz mods which hardly ever happens. The system is automated which in turn means that single reports can’t have a lot of weight (otherwise everyone would get banned). Only in mass do they add up and you have to be extremely toxic for that to happen. Which, judging by that threat, seems likely.

I’ll ask you as well, you seem rather educated on the subject: Do you have a source on how the system works? An official source?

I think you confused this forum with Twitter.

Run along now.

It is not arrogant. It is just fact.

Abusive chat sanctions are based on volume. So, rightly or wrongly, a good number of snowflakes would have reported you.

But I 100%. Match chat should be removed. Not entirely sure why anyone needs to talk to the enemy… As for group/team chat… You just have to learn not to be angry. Or if you get mad, mute chat.

I have an email from a “game master” when I appealed account action from a year or so ago…

They confirmed that they will only look into accounts on abusive chat reports if there is a certain number of reports in a certain amount of time.

If they manually checked every report they’d never see their families… lol.

This is why people can get away with some pretty horrific things, if they just do it once.

Sadly there should be more automatic triggers that pick up certain words without being reported. You make a racial slur… the game should suspend you immediately while they investigate. But that’s just my opinion.

You created a thread for discussion, i discuss and you disregard my opinion and label it wrong bad and arrogant.

Don’t think you’re the type that should hang out on forums.
