Keep getting leave penalties

So I just got a 6 match XP penalty for leaving games. The problem is I never leave games, ever. I really don’t like to play KOTH type modes, I prefer payload etc, so I usually leave on the loadingscreen before I even enter the game, but Overwatch is still giving me leave penalties? Seems like a very flawed system where I get punished for leavinga game before I have entered the game.

That does seem like a problem. You should be fine to leave up until you can see the character models in the spawn room.

I disagree. They then need to fill as there’s no skirmish mode on Competitive. Remember while you’re loading other players might already be in spawn.

Regardless of when you leave, the rest of the team is left a player down. Sounds fair to me unless they set up a skirmish mode or a delay before games start, but then everyone would pick and choose based on maps and we’d get even longer wait times as more people leave and we have to wait for fillers who don’t have the same synergy with a team built up over several games.

But I’m Silver trash what do I know?

This is all from quick play. I also was under the impression that there is a time at the beginnng where it is safe to leave without penalties. I’ve left on the character screen before without any penalties. When assembling the team I think there is a 30-second window(?).

I wan’t even aware there were leave penalties in QP tbh. But yeah the penalty applies as soon as the map started loading. You’ll have to quit after the last game, rather than before the next… but then you won’t know if its Koth :man_shrugging:
