Leaver? Then Place a Bot

So we have all experienced the leaver problem or the lost connection problems while playing competitive mode , thats why the greatest solution TIL THE PLAYER comes back is just to place a bot by the last class that the lost connection or the leaver was … At least try to make it 6vs6…

It sounds like a good idea at first glance. However, remeber that it is a bot, not a human.

You can’t communicate with it and it picks the hero that suits well to the in game composition advice (“too many tanks”, “no defense hero”, etc.)

Lastly, If the bot is better than the leaver, then it seems unfair for the enemy team. If the bot is worse than the leaver, then it an easy feeder for the enemy team, which gives your team a great disadvantage.

TLDR; Playing as a team of 5 players might be more beneficial than having a bot by your side.

Here is an alternative suggestion for the Leaver problem in comp.

As hard as i want to see a fix for the leaver system… Season 10 now… 10 seasons in a row with leavers…
Not gonna change… Sadly

Its a good idea, because a bot is better than nothing, also I do not think a bot would be better than a player so in my opinion “unfair advantage” for the team having to stick with a bot because of a leaver sounds highly improbable at best. The idea to freeze someone and punish the player for the duration of the match for someone else fault sounds much worse to me, as the one who payed for the game has the right to play it just like everyone else, and suggesting that he/she wastes his or her time just because someone else left his team is sort of forced discrimination.

There’s different bot difficulties, and that can be used to reflect the MMR of the leaver compared to to team/enemies. So technically it could work.

What if it picks a hero you want to play? Then how do you make it switch?
Also, how good will it be? It cant just constantly feed and give ult charge to the enemy.

It’s a fine line of balance here. The bot is just trying to emulate the player that left. Hence it could make mistakes just like that very human player. If the bot becomes error free, then it would become abusable. People would ask someone to leave if there “bot” version plays better. That could in turn get people to get someone to leave by getting abusive on chat / voice. This of course is a more complicated thing to do from a software point of view… Freezing is at-least a lot more easier to implement.

But if Blizzard manages to make a bot that can perfectly emulate a leaver, then they would have created something that no other game developer in the gaming industry has ever done.

Indeed, its a fine line. I think, however, that even a bad bot with focus on not feeding is better than 5v6. It would be easy to look at characters played and selecting the most played. Also, the skill level could be adjusted to a bit below the leavers level, making the bot a bit worse, but only marginally. And, with a bias towards staying with the group - for instance to only push if in a group with 4 or more people, it would actually have better tactical sense than a lot of human players
Blizzard has a lot of data. It would not be hard to adjust the level of the bot - you could even give it a preference for filling towards 2-2-2…
