Leaverwatch - 2

Just had two games, with probably 3 hours in between, and I had a leaver in them, where after the timer, the rest of the team started to leave.

Anyone else experiencing this as frequently?

So 2 leavers in a 3 hours session.

Not sure there is much of an issue there. I had leavers in 2 games back to back last night. One was a rage quitter the other was a DC. Nothing we can do about either.

Also, when the time runs down, you are free to leave and it just gives you a loss, so you can re-queue and not waste your time.

No, two games, with a 3 hour gap in between.

I always try and play out the match in hope people rejoin and we can recontest.

So just a coincidental event then. Nothing to report.

Fair play. I’d rather just requeue and go again. Doesn’t impact me over a season.

I’m reporting it here on this forum as it is a very frequent occurrence for me.
Just had another leaver in the same set of placements.

You do you. But there is nothing to be done, there isn’t a pattern, so it is just coincidental.

(They aren’t placements, placements are coming back next season as a one off (for now))

You can think what you think.

They are. The rank does not update unless you get 5 win/15 losses.
After the 5 wins/15 losses, you can see what your next placement is.

Unfortunately they removed the instant feedback from what was in OW, but they’re bringing it back next season now they’ve realised it was a stupid decision.

That is no thought of mine. The 2 events are coincidental. They are just 2 events that happened by chance. Literal definition of a coincidence.

That isn’t a placement. The giveaway was when they said “placements will return in season 9”

Suggests, we don’t have them atm. We just have a rank progress bar like Apex, except we can’t see it. Another thing coming in season 9.

Yes, this was bad in hindsight. At least they tried something. Doesn’t make what we have now placements, despite your protestations.

Something can be done. That is why I am reporting the issue here for Blizzard to review. As they say, “keep the feedback coming”.

What is it if it is not placement?
You have a rank, then you have to win 5 or lose 15, and then your rank is adjusted accordingly - that is what a placement is.

It didn’t need changing. They’re only reviewing it now after Simping over a woman’s YouTube video rather than looking at the forums, and by the looks of it they’re reverting back to what it essentially was on OW. Give them another two or three seasons, we’ll be back there.

Unsure who else you’re referring to here with the “Chums” part, literally only you has responded to this thread so far. Maybe you’ve got this thread mixed up with another?

So, what is it if it’s not called placements…?

Pretty much this… I mean it’s not hard to grasp. You either win 5 PLACEMENT games, or lose 15, then you get PLACED in the “appropriate” ranking. Pretty simple really.

Best regards and new year wishes.

Indeed. Though I am happy to be corrected on the correct naming for this. Hopefully we’ll soon be enlightened to what this “Placement” feature is actually called soon.

What did you call matches after you’d done placements in OW1…

Because that is your answer.

h ttps://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-gb/news/23857518/initializing-systems-updating-competitive-play-for-overwatch-2/#:~:text=The%20placement%20system%20from%20past,seven%20wins%20or%2020%20losses.

For reference, this is from the start of OW2. The only mention of “placement” is on a new account where you are unranked and do the then 7-20 and get a rank. After that it is just ranked matches.

You are free to call it what you like, but accuracy helps everyone. If you mention placements, people will incorrectly think you are a new player.

You can expect to start in lower Skill Tier Divisions after placement matches and progress the ranks throughout the season.

Ranking? OW1s ranking system is totally different… Placements in OW1 which you speak of, are the placements we constantly have on OW2 lol… Once you’ve completed all placements, you’d get the “appropriate” ranking, then a refresh of placements, etc. OW1 was SR based, the games weren’t all placements like they are now. Not hard to grasp.

The only thing that is different is you get an update on your progress after a few games, instead of every game, and removal of placements for everyone bar new accounts. Other than that nothing changed.

A lot has changed. It’s a shame you can’t see that.

In terms of “the ranked system”, it hasn’t. There were only 2 core changes (can add divisions to that to make a minor change). SR, MMR, match making, all the same.

It was mostly cosmetic, and it was terrible. So they are changing the way information is fed back to us. Which is a good change… but ultimately the core systems are still going to be the same. The same people will be “stuck” somewhere, the same people will claim it is rigged.

Whatever you say. I respect your opinion.

US forums suggests otherwise…

On the link you sent…

The placement system from past Competitive seasons is changing in Overwatch 2. Instead of playing five matches without a rank, you’ll be unranked until your first competitive update after the first seven wins or 20 losses. You can expect to start in lower Skill Tier Divisions after placement matches and progress the ranks throughout the season.

So here they’re saying that the “Placement” is that you’ll start unranked until your first competitive update after the first seven wins or 20 losses. After the first competitive update, you’ll have a rank. If you continue playing, you’ll also need either seven wins or 20 losses to see your next rank (obviously, that has changed to 5 wins/15 losses, which is still just as bad really). The second, third, fourth iteration of these 7 wins/20 losses are still Placements.

They’re literally saying the process of Placements is completed when you either win seven games or lose 20 games.

Previously in OW1 the updates to the SR was instant after a match. No placement, just an instant update. Go back and watch maybe a content creator play OW1, you’ll see it in action if you can’t remember :eyes:

You too are free to call it what you like. But this evidence of yours is very weak, and lacks logic in your thinking. Trying to relate the current ranking system to OW1 also… jeez…

It’s also abit rich coming from you in regards to “accuracy” given the lies you’ve spread in the past. This is probably the first time you’ve (tried) to provide evidence, but with some extremely weak reasoning and logic.
