If someone is leaving qp repeatedly because they don’t like the way the match is going or they can’t get the hero they want, I can understand a penalty,
but in qp, when I leave the game and log out because my time to play is expired and I need to go to work or live my life, there should be no penalty. It’s just a game at the end of the day. it’s just qp.
there should be at least 2 game ditches in a row before penalties kick in for qp.
for comp, I can understand immediate punishment. but for qp thats extreme.
If that’s the case. You probably aren’t returning for a while. You won’t even notice the penalty.
How can we implement an algoritm that detects if you leave a game because you don’t like or because you have an irl emergency? The only way I can imagine is putting some cameras in your house and let Blizzard access it, so they know you were busy when you left. Or maybe wait a few centuries of quantum computing innovations.
Blizzard cannot do much about this, there is not even a reliable way to detect if you lose the connection/electricity.
QP Leaver Penalities are quite soft, if you leave few games you’ll have like 2m of suspension thats nothing. If you are having like hours of suspension that means you are leaving something like 40% of your games, which is really a lot of people annoyed.

Exactly, it’s just QP. So no punishment should be made. It’s a joke how they even punish for leaving such game modes. If you don’t want people leaving games, then go play Competitive, simple.
Disagree. If you want to leave whenever you want, go play a single player game. By leaving a multi-player game, even if it’s qp, you’re ruining the game for your teammates.
Hardly when it gets backfilled pretty much instantly. If you don’t want your games being “ruined” then play Competitive. There you go, problem solved.

And given that the penalties have been proven to reduce leavers and increase match quality… I just don’t get why anyone would be against it.
Literally zero to dislike about it.
For not talking that people take the entire arm if we give them a hand. Without leaver penalities having matches with > 10 leavers will be quite usual.
Pretty much why I only play quick play when leveling an account. Past experience of constant leavers is draining.
If you dislike the match you’re in so often that the penalty stops you playing… Maybe the games trying to tell you something.
I’ve said it before and i’m gonna say it again.
The only way to solve a lot of the leaver issues is to set up a lobby system similar to the old call of duty games, where people vote for x map and if players leave before the match start, it’ll wait until enough players are ready and accept the vote for x map.
Either that or give players more agency in selecting a prefered map/mode in the menu before queueing by letting us select specific maps and queue up for matches for those maps instead of it all being 100% random.
Map choice would be a really welcomed feature!!
The choice wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Not sure it would do a huge amount for leavers, outside of the handful of odd people that map dodge.
Map/mode choice would be a good feature to improve the game globally, not only a method to fight leavers. At least in QP that could work.
Yeah. I think we’d need few more maps in each mode to make a pure map vote reasonable. But I can see it being tested at some point in the near future.
I’d like to see for quick play where the mode is random like now. But you get a 20/30 second window to vote for your map. You’d need about 5/6 maps per mode for that to be reasonable though.
