Let's talk Junkrat's Passive

I’ll start by saying that back when the game was released there was no issue with Junkrat’s passive. His grenades and ult dealt self damage etc.

However, these days I see no actual reason for Junkrat to keep his passive.
And it’s not like I think it is overpowered or anything, I’m just saying that in his current state there is no justification for either him to keep it, or others to not have something similar (for example, Genji AoE slashing before death).

Is there any actual reason to not remove it / give something similar to all other heroes ?

Also, forget the part where they buffed his ult speed AND gave him 2 mines AND removed the self damage altogether. Using RIP Tire and exploding it right away used to kill Junkrat, now it’s just stupid.

Junkrat is still a trash pick so no

Also I like how you ignored everything except for the changes that they made to Junkrat that really enhances your points.

It would be terrible if every character had a death attack. It makes sense for Junkrat, and once you learn it you should rarely ever die from it. The point of Junkrat is that you have to stay away from him.

His passive is probably the most easily outplayed ability in the game. A very small area of effect that doesn’t linger, it’s perfectly fine.

Yet its always funny (Junk/DvaMain) to watch somebody walk into it because they forgot about it

Your playing Junkrat, you get charged by the enemy Reinhardt, he can’t escape the passive and he gets blown into oblivion, what’s not to like?

Removing his passive would be disastrous for Junkrat. The part with exploding upon death could be removed without any issues. But making his grenades and ult hurt him like in the old days would absolutely destroy him.

Not only is it a clear nerf because you remove so much potential output, but also the game now has more dive and brawling kind of heroes that it would place him in a even weaker spot than back in the day where he was considered a troll pick.

If other heroes should have a similar passive is a whole other discussion and I dont think that should have anything to do with junkrat individually.

Because he can’t jump shield or walk away (-‸ლ)
