I’ve been endorsement level 5 for months, with a steady flow of daily endorsements coming in, but since today I dropped to level 4 for the first time. My current theory is that I got reported by someone for some reason and Blizzard auto-demoted me. Does anyone know whether Blizzard does this, or could it be due to another reason? If it is the case, it’s kinda unreasonable that you can’t dispute the demotion…
MAINTAINING YOUR ENDORSEMENT LEVEL
Your endorsement level can decrease if you do not continue to receive endorsements or leave games before they’re finished. Punishments within the reporting system may also strip players of their endorsement level and place them at level 0.
Based on the description on their website, no, just reporting you is not enough to take your level away. It only happens when you get penalized.
However, you can lose endorsements when getting no endorsements of leaving the game. Some players were suggesting that you lose your level when you get less endorsements than before.
It’s a shame you’ve gone down a level, because now you’ll lose all the cool perks you got for getting to level five. Such as:
Diamond Weapon Skins
Exclusive Sprays
Unique Portrait
Special Player Icon
Diamond Forum Icon
10% off on the Blizzard Store
And…
OH WAIT…
There’s f-all… Apart from some crappy little grey outline that no-one can see and even less people (!) care about.
I’d feel sorry for you if it had cost you something, but the fact is Blizzard have made the Endorsements the absolute worst addition to the game bar none. There’s no reward. No-one cares. And you can barely see it.
I’m 100% not having a go at the OP or being mean. But the Endorsements System is just a half-arsed implementation that rewards players LESS than if they’d left OWL on while they went to the pub and got a handful of Tokens for their ‘trouble’.
If it was my brainchild/project, I’d be embarrassed.
That’s not entirely correct. Granted the reward isn’t exactly amazing (i.e. like an instant legendary) but it’s still a reward non the less.
Taken from official Overwatch site.
“You can occasionally earn Loot Boxes based on your current endorsement level, with higher endorsement levels resulting in more Loot Boxes. During special events, you’ll receive event Loot Boxes (for example, Summer Games Loot Boxes).”
Endorsements do have rewards. Whenever you level up, you get a loot box, and once in a while you’ll get 3 lootboxes for staying in that level. Also, having a higher endorsement level gives you bragging rights over being a non-toxic player I guess?
Are you saying that you get endorsements every day or every match? If it’s just every day, then you might have had a match streak where you haven’t got any endorsements, leading to your downgrade.
That’s indeed possible. They were drying up a bit yesterday…
However, I’m back to level 5 now!
The value of endorsements seems to vary across the player community. For me, “rewards” from the community mean much more than any reward I would get from the game provider.
I wonder if Blizzard ever surveyed the community regarding their perceived value of endorsements. Would be interested to know.
It also proves one point. Not your levels decay, but the endorsements themselves. This means that your level indicates that you have an X amount of endorsements. The reason why your level up proves it is because you did it so fast. Getting back to lvl 5 took less time (or matches) than getting to lvl 5 in the first place.
On the contrary, it would be easier to exploit the report system. If you know how many reports you have and you find out when you get penalized, you will know how often you can be reported without getting banned.
This would be a weaker case if Blizzard revealed how many reports are necessary. People could still assume how often they can break the rules but they are basically “gambling” because they don’t know their own numbers.
Ahh I can see that being a thing but it can help players like this op or new players who think that people don’t report you just for picking torb. And you can see who reports who at the start of the game. This might help you if you think you got false reported at the start of the game when you did nothing. All and all not sure why we even have.the options to report players at the start of the game but oh well.
The endorsement have made a huge difference in the game, and it’s a mystery to me how some people just don’t seem to notice. As they don’t get shiny toys for behaving. Kind of makes me wonder if these are the ones that created a need for the system in the first place.
