Ana’s grenade doesn’t incapacitate.

It does in my opinion because it partialy incapacitates heroes (unable to heal or be healed).
Just to be sure, CC is every ability that prevents the abilities or actionf of the enemy, right?

Come in now… If you look at it that way then each character posesses the ultimate CC ability - killing every other.
Having heals blocked doesn’t affect playing the character at all. There is no loss of control ot abilities.

That’s a pretty silly argument. Unable to use a very specific ability (that is: to heal or be healed) is exactly what CC is. If you compare it to let’s say, a (minor) slow which is generally considered to be CC by most people, than I would say this ability is in the same ballpark in terms of impact.
Nonetheless, it’s debatable. Either way there’s too much CC in the game if you ask me.

Regarding Sombra, wouldn’t “silenced” be a better definition for her CC?
She does disable all abilities yet the enemy is still able to move and attack.
Also, Ana’s nade is actually debuff and can’t be truely called a CC.
Great list Lethal, but I do have to agree that Ana’s nade can’t be considered an incapacitate as it doesn’t stop them performing. It just stops them getting healed. If played well they can avoid getting killed despite being naded.

I consider Mei’s freezing to be slow + incapacitate in the end. Rooting means someone cant move but can take actions, in the last stages of freezing you are extremely slow but not rooted.

@FatBluDragon: well the Ana thing I can understand but imo the word incapacitate fits fine for Sombra (unless you take it the WoW way which doesn’t fit at all). Incapacitate in the real and game world can mean a partial inability if that makes sense. I would say silence is more of a magic kind of thing.
@Richochet: thanks.
@Bustar: fair point. I’ll adjust it.

More then half of those were in the game on release so we knew what to expect in the future, community started complaining after ow breached 40ish CCs aka when Brigitte got introduced. Somehow I don’t think that CC is the problem rather players not knowing how to deal with them.
Overwatch is unique in that way that we have all those abilities, otherwise it would just be another boring FPS. And those are so monotone and unoriginal.

Well for me it was already enough with the introduction of Ana and sleep dart. Both Ana and sleep dart are perfectly fine, but I really hoped they wouldn’t introduce any new CC in the game after that. Granted, my experience with Blizzard and them being very disconnected with their games sometimes, I honestly already knew they were gonna put more crap in the game (not saying everyone dislikes CC because I know some do).
Personally Doomfist was the pinacle of when it became really annoying. I mean, he’s not super strong or anything but who the hell likes being singled out, knocked, knocked again and then stunned by one hero? (or just stun, boom dead since he can do that too). Even if you’re winning the game because he has to overextend it’s just so unfun unless for the Doomfist player himself. I’ll take a 1v1 vs most heroes in the game but that guy is just so obnoxious. Same for Brigitte. But hey like I said, just my personal thoughts.

I completely understand where you’re coming from, esp when doomfist came out his punch hitbox was larger then some maps. I don’t think anyone likes being stunned. My view on it is, regardless of how many stuns are in the game, there can only be 6 heroes on one team and already on release we were introduced with more CCs then heroes, so I made peace that they are and will be part of the game.
It does depend on how they are implemented though. Both Brigitte and Doomfist have new types of CC that could be argued are much worse than the CC we had at the start.
Brigitte has what I call a safe CC. She can control you from behind her shield, which is the first time something like this has happened, the closest being Orisa using halt from behind her shield. If you see Brigitte coming towards you with her shield up there is usually very little you can do if you lack the mobility, you cant shoot her down or use most CC to move her away and escape.
Doomfist can chain CC like its nobody’s business. He can in theory hit you with all of his three CC abilities and leave you helpless for seconds while he destroys your character. This is also similarly a new way to be controlled.
Remember, something might be annoying and you might think you got used to it but this doesn’t mean a new more annoying version cant be created.
While leaving himself helpless in the process, as long as it’s balanced it should be fine, imo.
You can make the same argument for most other CC abilities in the game. Roadhog is helpless while using hook, McCree is helpless while using flashbang, Mei is helpless while freezing someone and so forth.
true, because of balance, you point being? Difference with fist is he’s a hero with only offensive cc abilities that are his survivability as well, so he has to manage his resources carefully.
My point? That he can chain CC, something never seen before? Resource managing is moot because his cooldowns are so low.
It doesn’t affect the character which is antied, but it really affects the supports, because they’re disabled for that time
