Loss/Suspension after Rejoin match (PS4)

I’m not sure if this is a technical issue or a bug. But I’m post this here wondering if this is an issue, and if I could get a possible reconsideration of possible leave/suspensions against KRMalana and myself.

KRMalana and I share an apt and thus the same power source/internet source. Almost daily we group up with a friend (VampKnight in the video) to play Overwatch, particularly competitive. Three times today the power in the apt flickered. The rest of the electronics in the house hiccuped but stayed on, but the PS4s turned off to protect from surges (I think its a built in thing?) Each time we immediately turned them back on and got back into the game, while also texting our friend to let the rest of the team know what happened.

We don’t know what is causing the power flickering (is it local/power company, the high heat here on the East Coast, or issue in apt). We stopped playing after the third occurrence and its still happening.

The first was a match on Junkertown, and happened so early in the game (the match had started but within the first 30sec) that the match cancelled, so there was no game to rejoin once we got back into Overwatch. We both received a Loss and a 10min suspension.

The second occurrence was on Temple of Anubis. We made it back into the game, Rejoined Match, got out into one fight, died, and lost the match. We received a Loss and a 30min suspension. We were confused at the suspension, since we had rejoined the game.

The third occurrence I managed to get a recording on, on Dorado. We got back in the game, several fights, and won. I went into team chat to explain again to the other teammates what happened (PS4 doesn’t record the player’s mic on my end). But despite winning the game, we received a Loss in our placement and both were suspended for 2hrs.

Is this a technical issue or bug? Or is this on purpose (receive a loss and mark against despite rejoining). KRMalana and myself are not ones to rage quit or purposely leave the game. And the few times we have left games has been due to sudden storm, power outage, or server issues. We’re now worried about a season ban since this happened three times in one day. Is there any way that at least the second and third occurrence (where we made it back into the game) not be considered a mark against? We are perfectly willing to accept the loss and the SR drop.

I, too, suffered from the game’s ridiculously low tolerance for game crashing. I lost connection momentarily, hastily rejoined then game (took maybe 20 seconds tops), managed to rejoin the game.

Once I got back to the game, I saw the red box informing about a leaver with a timer of 0:02. Still, the game ended although I got back and gave me a 10 minute suspension.

I implore Blizzard to give a bit more time for people to get back to the game. I did all this as fast as humanly possible, but was still unable to rejoin. Or have the timer react to the rejoining the instant the person begins rejoining.

These sorts of occurrences feel strongly unfair and if they happen too frequently, they will cost players. (I admit Overwatch has many, many players to spare…)
