Lot of stuttering and FPS drops

Dear technical support,

Since in my last post no one could help me out (I'm having massive FPS drops in Overwatch 2 - Technical Support - Overwatch Forums) I’m creating this post hoping to get the attention I need.

As the title says, I’m having a lot of FPS drops in Overwatch 2, and I cannot understand why. It takes a lot to load up the models/maps, my 60 FPS goes to 30 → 20 → 60 → 50 → 9 → 45 → 60 → 30, etc.

I’m already playing with the lowest graphics/video settings, disabled all background apps, repaired the game and nothing. It seems like the game is consuming a lot of my CPU/memory. Don’t know why this is happening since I played Overwatch 1 without any problems.

I doubt about this being a hardware problem. I can play another games without any problems (but maybe I’m wrong). Here is the diagnostic logs (sorry if it’s in Portuguese, I don’t really know if those things is what I need to show you)

MSINFO : https://pastebin.com/say5cJBZ
DXDIAG: dxdiag - Pastebin.com

Hope we can figure it out together, and sorry if this is considered as a “repost”. I’m kinda frustrated as I’m 1 month waiting for a response.

Thanks for your attention, y’all.

to clarify before I look any further: OW runs on the graphics card and not the motherboard chipset ? sure you checked that?

before fresh driver install you used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)?

check the workaround:

Hello there! First of all, thank you so much for answering and try to help me! I’ll try to answer all of your questions:

1-> Yes, OW runs on the graphics cards. I defined that in windows configuration AND in NVIDIA configuration.

2-> I never used DDU, I install the majority of the drivers with NVIDIA Experience.

3-> Yes, I use adminstrator mode to start battlenet. In fact, each time I need to play OW I need to: Restart PC → close all background apps-> restart explorer service and desktop service → open battlenet with administrator mode → close the battlenet app before OW opens → play for 20 minutes before the game starts with FPS drops. Sometimes I need to open the game, go to hero gallery or custom mode, let it load all the assets and restart the game to actually play it.

4-> Didn’t know I had that many errors in Windows 10! I’ll try to fix that, thanks for linking one possible solution!

5-> I’ll check it out the overheating problem too. I already play with a cooler below my laptop.

Again, I really appreciate your attention. I’ll try out your possible solutions.

maybe we’re lucky and can improve something for you

DDU ensures the complete and residue-free removal of the old graphics card drivers (otherwise old data/files could be responsible for unstable or faulty performance)

please remember to upload your MSInfo again. i could not check these.

Pastebin didn’t let me share MSInfo, so I uplodad it on Gist. I think you can check it out already

autostart quite overloaded

marked red: these are programs / tasks that are running in the background meantime and may require network access … they also use up resources unnecessarily
I would try deactivating it in autostart, then reboot and then check whether OW is more stable … and/or uninstall it right away

marked green: do you play OW over VPN? do you need the Opera addon?
I would disable them too

Hey! So thats strange with the autostart. I have all of those apps with autostart deactivated (via Task Manager). Is there any other way to deactivate it that I’m not aware of?
And about VPN, I have it disabled in Opera. In fact, I never run OW or any other game with Opera opened.

To finish up my answer, I’ll say: I tried reinstalling drivers with DDU and repaired some of the windows system files. I must say, main menu opens a lot faster, but in-game (AKA in match) I’m still having a lot of problems with models load time and FPS drops.

I really appreciate your patience for helping me!
