Lucioball should be in the arcade pool and custom games permanently rather than part of the Summer Games event. Copa should return annually with the event.
I’m a top console player (in Lucioball) and although I play the base game a bit, I always play loads during Lucioball. Lucioball brings the entire Lucioball player base back to the game and then they leave. Why not keep those players by keeping the game mode? At the end of the event, we all joked about how we’d see each other again in October for the anniversary event. Surely Blizzard would want to keep these players, no?
If you want to keep something exclusive for the summer games event, bring Copa back each year with the event. It means players of similar skill play against each other which is just better for everyone.
Seasonal events don’t feel the same. I think it’s because of loot boxes getting removed but there isn’t excitement for seasonal events or skins anymore. They don’t have the same pull so why not leave the game modes in custom games? Things like mei’s snowball offensive lol

I think the issue is there wasn’t huge excitement for them at all. The play rates were low and as such they didn’t deem it worth the time to keep.
That being said, if the game and servers can support it. I don’t think there’s any harm in having it permanently available for the small handful that want to play it.
Easy was to make a few people happy.

Not really. According to Active Player, Overwatch has lost just shy of 650,000 players since last month… Correlation doesn’t necessarily mean causation but I don’t think that is a coincidence
Yeah, on the last 30 days. As a chunk of that is in last season, which was a grim one for numbers.
But they are still up since January. And gained more in July than they’ve lost this month. So I’d say fairly healthy.
I’d I guess once marvel rivals releases, there will be a little down trend for a short period. Then it’ll be interesting to see if they flinch and do something to bring people back.
I think that’s when they start the token 6v6 tests. MR releases towards the end of OW season 14 i believe.
